Software Test: Panda Cloud Antivirus

Formulation of the goal

We will be the first to summarize what has been said so far. We have an antivirus that is completely free, does not bombard with unsolicited advertisements, has a clean interface and is available on all popular Windows systems. The thing sounds almost as good as if we had nothing to do. However, there is one more “little thing” here, our antivirus just doesn’t excel at killing viruses, and that’s a problem.

Keywords:

  • Free
  • Simple
  • Full protection

Okay, now we want a virus scavenger that’s also free - we know there are serious costs involved in developing these apps, so we can make friends with tastefully placed ads -, it’s also easy to use with a toast, and it works well against malware. The latter caused the biggest headaches, as testing antivirus software is almost as much work as creating them.

It is a question of protection

With regard to virus protection, there is no place for words like what I think, in theory, it seems almost certainly… We have decided that it will be most expedient to ask for professional help on this issue.

The AV-TEST Institute and AV-Comparatives, which are key players in IT security and antivirus research, are backed by serious professionals. Testers and users are helped by making most of their publications available for free. The two different sources guarantee that we get really reliable data. This obviously roughly reduces the range of possible programs, but this is the only way we can guarantee 100 percent that the recommended program really stands its ground.

Based on the statistics of the two research institutes, the following names can be considered: Avast: Free AntiVirus 2014, AVG: Anti-Virus Free Edition 2014, Baidu: Antivirus 1.6, Panda Security: Cloud Antivirus 2.3, Qihoo: 360 Internet Security 4.2, Comodo: Internet Security 6.3. We shot the joke a bit with the introduction, but let’s take a look at the details.
