QWERTY SLIM - the versatile little machine

One sleepy Monday morning, we found a Modecom Feel 302 box in front of the editorial door - along with a Zotac carton. It could be some little integrated stuff, we thought right away, and really, it’s a miniITX solution. According to the distributor, this little gadget is primarily intended for small office and multimedia use - of course, we will shed light on this in our writing.

From the not-so-large box, an even smaller "machine" was found, on which we can safely attach the compact and cheeky markers:

The form first reminded the writer of these lines of LG’s external BR writer, which is no coincidence: the stretched rectangular design was voted for by the designers here as well, and the QWERTY configuration only takes up 1,5-2 times more space in our living space. So one of the keys of our test subject is his size, which we have no complaints about - not even in the light of the numbers: 6,5 cm × 32 cm × 22 cm.

Let's walk around our main character! The Feel 302 is available in two color combinations, the one we have corresponds to the combination of silver and black. On the facade, in addition to the brand name and model number, you can find the power button, which lights up blue during operation. Next to it, we can also find the HDD indicator LED hidden, which naturally flashes red on occasion. A notebook drive is located a little higher, which is not clearly a good choice. The reason for using it is obviously that we can use our machine "like a book" even if it is placed on its side, but the lower performance, higher price and higher tendency to malfunction are not in favor of the decision. To the left of the optical unit, you can find the terminals (microphone, headphones and 2 USB) under a drop-down cover.

If we also added an aerator…

On the right we can find a 6 cm fan space next to the ventilation opening, while on the left side we are not even that exciting: here we can only get excited about the latter. We are greeted by a large black bare at the bottom, while at the top we also run into ventilation pockets to help cool the central unit.

Of course, the back is even more important to us:

We can say: Our Zotac motherboard is also equipped with integrated LAN, audio and video, so we can talk about a kind of all-in-one solution. Disappointing, however, is the complete lack of digital exits, for a machine of this kind, DVI should be the minimum in 2009.

We walked around his fabric thoroughly, so it’s time to peek into our machinery!
