Penryn model numbers and release dates
The official release dates for Intel's 45nm processors have come to light.
The most powerful model, the quad-core Extreme Edition, will be released first. The four cores running at 3 GHz with 12 MB of second-level cache will be available to more affluent users in November this year at the earliest. Unfortunately, more will have to wait for the other quad-core and dual-core Penryn, with the first specimens to be found on store shelves in the first days of the New Year.
