Epic Games made an interesting comment to the Fortnite community.

By now, everyone must have heard that Intel processors have been exposed to serious security issues that, in some cases, can result in brutal performance losses. Epic Games has recently been able to install the required Meltdown patch, but the difficulties are only now coming as the underlying infrastructure serving Fortnite players has been hit hard by the change.

Such a significant increase in CPU utilization can also be felt by gamers, with many reportedly running into problems while logging in to the game, while others have complained about unstable servers. Epic Games is asking for the patience of the community, they are constantly working on troubleshooting.

We find it easy to imagine that other service providers will find themselves in a similar situation in the coming days and weeks, and Intel’s quasi-complete dominance of the market could now cause painful moments.
