LG HB965TZ and HB45E: Christmas Blu-ray home cinema with LG

As I mentioned on the previous page, it is LG Assembling the HB965TZ doesn’t require more serious expertise, it only took me more than a quarter of an hour because it was relatively difficult to route the cables, under the carpet, behind the cabinets, I had to find my way to the rear speakers.

As soon as the thing came together, I connected the HDMI cable to the Samsung With the PS50C530 Plasma TV, which immediately sensed and recognized LG’s system, the main menu was received after a short boot process. My first trip led to settings. If you encounter an English language environment, I recommend that you visit the "LANG" menu item in the settings, because the HB965TZ contains Hungarian language, which you can switch to with 1 click, from now on you will communicate with us in Hungarian.

I then made some quick adjustments to the picture and sound (if our TV knows, it’s a good idea to switch to 24p mode, i.e. apply 24 Hz picture refresh for Bluray materials). In the sound settings, you can define how far each speaker is located in the room, and you can manually increase or decrease the volume. There are a number of other features available that we would not describe in detail now, we will try to show each menu item in the video below.

In addition to the picture and sound, you also need to set up the network. It is also possible to use static IP or DHCP for both LAN and WLAN. Due to the 802.11n wireless, the use of LAN can only be really justified if our wireless router does not have N-technology, as HD materials may have a low 54/108 Mbps connection.

This also happened in my case, the Pirelli HGW (Home Gateway) received for T-HOME services has only Gs, ie 54 megabit WiFi, which, although somehow withstood SD materials, was already forced to its knees by streaming 30-40 megabit Bluray materials, and nasty tearing was over. I think I'd like a new router from T-HOME for Christmas…

The existence of a LAN connection has come to life in such cases, because until we can get an N router, we can use DLNA and enjoy Internet services (NetCast) on a wired connection without any problems. We also show these in the video, as well as how the LG HB965TZ passes the signal sent from the PC via HDMI to the PDP. Finally, the point, that is, the Bluray cinema, followed. For this, I called Terminator - Redemption Bluray (25 GB) out of the case (note: the HB965TZ also handles written discs excellently). The film also started after a short initialization, in its order and manner. The 24p worked perfectly, without a bang, of course we expect that too.

The image quality is obviously more a function of the display, let’s keep in mind that with a 2010 127cm FULL HD plasma, we won’t have much of a feeling of lack anymore. The scrolling between the chapters of the Bluray film, and the speed of winding are also adequate, comfortable to use. With the INFO / DISPLAY button you can preview all the relevant parameters on the screen, here you can easily navigate between audio tracks and subtitles, for example. The system is spectacular, yet simple and straightforward. It is also possible to use different picture schemes and special sound profiles. However, the video says more than words, unfortunately it is not an HD quality, but we hope that we can still demonstrate the capabilities of the LG HB965TZ with them anyway.
