Two more multimedia players from LC-Power

As we know, the test of the pudding is the eating, so we began to attach devices to our test TV. We were first interested in the capabilities of the smaller player, which we first connected to the LCD TV via composite output. Unfortunately, before discussing the quality, we have to mention the first big negative about the product: the player only sees and handles FAT32 partitions. This basically limits our size possibilities, we even doubted for a few minutes, but we soon calmed down when we saw the label of the CD found in the package: "FAT32 Format". Using the small utility, we can easily create large partitions using the above file system, which the player handles perfectly.

By ticking this issue, we can now turn to quality issues. On the issue of filming, we took out the DivX-encoded Prison Break with HDTV source, which has been used several times. We didn’t fall back on the quality of the composite connection, but we got pretty much what we expected. Switching to a component connection has improved the image somewhat. Of course, it also depends on what kind of recording we send to our display (the Prison Break file with a resolution of 624 × 352 and a bit rate of 987 kbps can be called average) and how much our display is at home in analog signal processing.

Go to the menu and setting options:

After the logo disappears, the first step is to browse the partitions on your hard drive. After selecting the partition you want to use, its contents become visible. The type of files (music, movie, image) is indicated by a small icon in front of the name. Detailed information about the characteristics of the selected file is obtained in the right half of the image, and in the case of images and videos we can also see a thumbnail of the given file (in the case of video it is a movie, in practice a movie starts in a small window).

The structure of the setting options is gloomy and simple, which also serves as the basis of the menu, but in return it is given an easily transparent style - let's see the options:

As we can see, we are not so relieved from caption management, more precisely from its parameterization offer, we can only choose between a larger and a smaller size, but the device does its job perfectly, those with good eyesight can choose the smaller size. the increased font size of the inscription can be of good service; here are some examples:

When it comes to music playback and image viewing, we can’t provide anything unexpected either, it does what it needs to do according to the capabilities of the small LC. If we play audio material, a small spectrum analyzer in the main window makes our lives more colorful and, of course, also provides some information about frequencies.

We need to say a few more words about the remote control:

The remote control isn't too big, and while it still has plenty of unused space on it (maybe it would have been better to design a little bigger buttons and spaces for it). Since the owner is a cheap model with basic functions, the number of keys is adjusted to this, in Hungarian we find the usual control buttons (play, pause, stop, rewind, scroll back and forth, volume up and down, arrows) and other function keys (eg audio, menu, subtitle, zoom, mute). The buttons are made of soft rubber, and when pressed, the main unit sometimes reacts relatively slowly to the moment.
