GELID fans - in the spirit of silence

For my readers who are not yet familiar with the topic of fan bearings, I recommend my previous article where I elaborated on the topic in a little more detail. ITT readable. Let’s read it because I’m not going to explain right now, I’m describing everything as it is, and then if someone doesn’t understand, throw it at yourself!

Let's start with the cheaper versions! To the manufacturer's site (www.gelidsolutions.com) you will find a PDF file with all the important information. According to this, we can come across three types of valves that differ in the way they are controlled. The simplest is Silent 8, which has no controls. TC indicates Temperature Control, ie the speed changes depending on the temperature. The third is the already well-known PWM solution. I have already written an article about the latter, who would not know what it is about, click quickly IDE!

From the descriptions, it seems that the three solutions do not differ in terms of motors and bearings. There are differences in speed, but these can be traced back to the presence or absence of control.

What’s worth noting is that only 8 dBA of noise is recorded on the Silent 18, but the other two pieces that reach higher turns don’t make more than 21,5 dBA of noise. We'll listen well!
However, there is an even more interesting figure, and that is the type of bearing. The name Hydro Dynamic is on the box, from which we can immediately think of the fluid-bearing design. And really. By snapping out the paddle and the shaft above the glider part, we can see something of a simmering thing, the bearing part is closed at the bottom, and at all, everything suggests that the fan is fluid-bearing. The only detail that doesn’t fit the picture is that we don’t find oil but grease in the bearing. Strange, we'll see how he'll make music in action.

Before we move on, we need to talk about the sizes available. Silent versions are also available in three standard sizes, 8, 9 and 12 cm.
Let's move on to Gamer fans! I couldn’t tell why these made them playful, perhaps because more playful-minded shoppers love translucent blue paddles. This is, of course, a very irrelevant question, as there is a lot of interestingness here that I need to share with my readers.

The fans came in three sizes, each of which received a speed control unit. As I wrote above, the shovel is blue and translucent, which looks very good in a glossy frame. Here are some interesting facts about the box! The 12-centimeter version rotates at 1500 per minute, while moving 64,3 cubic feet of air and emitting 25 dBA of noise.

According to the packaging, the type of bearing is Nanoflux. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like it aint for me either. What the hell is Nanoflux? From the flux - quite rightly - I associated it with magnetism. There is a brief description of the technology on the manufacturer’s site and there is also a picture that tries to show how the bearing is built. It seems certain that the manufacturer uses the already known magnetic flotation, but in addition, we do not find a liquid-bearing solution to the competition.

As described on the Gelid side, the fan received an improved plain bearing. What is certain is that the development probably affected the bushing, as we find no trace of the usual bronze glitter. Instead, we find a black material from which nothing can be deduced other than its color. It is certain that some grease will also help lubrication.

Another interesting feature is that the blade can be snapped out together with the shaft. The solution is very useful, as the transparent blades do not look good in dust, but in this way, they can be easily cleaned out of place.

So when it comes to bearings, we didn’t come across the usual solutions. The liquid solution of the cheaper version, as well as the plain bearing of the Gamer versions, can be some kind of hybrid solution. This fact does not deduct anything from their value if they do their thing in silence. It is certain that the manufacturer emphasizes that it has optimized the operation for low speeds, which, if true, means that we do not have to worry about disturbing resonance or hum at low speeds.

Follow the experience!
