GELID fans - in the spirit of silence

I turned on all the fans, listened and of course watched for the vibration as well. I started with the cheaper pieces. In terms of noise, as far as this can be judged by ear, the factory values ​​are given. I felt a swaying stronger than the smaller ones, 8 and 9 centimeters, and weaker than the 12th version. This pretty much means that it squeaks, it is more on the bearing, if the whole fan is swaying, it is more on the blade. In other words, the shortcomings of balancing can be discovered in the sway. Due to the higher turn, it was more powerful at the smaller vents, but overall I would still rank these pieces among the better airs. What is definitely important and beneficial is that despite the rotation of the fans, neither the noise nor the sway has changed, which means that the bearing is stable. Listening to the growl of the bearing, I would bet on a plain bearing. The noise as a whole was not disturbing, an even, soft hum can only be heard up close. The key word here is even, because if the sound is chirping and clicking, it can be any sound, it can still be heard.

So overall, I specifically liked the cheaper fans. The fact that it can be attached to the housing not with a screw but with rubber pins is an additional advantage, although I have not experienced any vibration that would have spread to the housing with a fixed installation.

Let's see what the Gamer Edition knows! Interestingly, the smaller fans were more convincing here. I felt the strongest vibration in the 12-centimeter piece, and nothing in the small ones. The bearing is actually quieter than the cheaper pieces. The sound is even here, no chirping or squeaking can be heard. The fans also tolerated rotation well.

It is particularly important to highlight that the use of the speed controller has been shown to keep all fans quiet even at low speeds. The 12-centimeter piece isn’t the best on the market, but for the little ones, I have to say that even the much more expensive types can shiver from it. Incidentally, the sound of the bearing here is more reminiscent of a glider than a fluid bearing solution. This is of course not a problem, as if you have read the previous fan article, you may know that a well-made plain bearing will loosely compete with a fluid-bearing solution. The only advantage of liquid solutions is that they are completely silent at extremely low speeds, while this is not always the case with gliders.
