FragFX v.2 PS3 controller = Bang in the head!
As you read on the previous page, FragFX is a very well-hit controller. It could be said to fill a gap of its kind, so much so that they could be packaged next to the PS3 so that converting PC gamers wouldn’t run many hundreds of meters from the console when they loaded their favorite FPS game and started controlling it with the PS3 controller. It certainly has nothing to do with the subtle movements you get used to on a PC. Nothing, nothing, nothing. I, who was an avid FPS player, pretty slowly set aside these games and switched to simulators. Although I can't use a steering wheel, mini-joysticks can be used to control cars, even if they are just fine. FPS games, on the other hand, lose orders of magnitude in value without a mouse.
We’re sure to have a reader who’s arguing about this right now, but like I said I was an obsessed gamer, you could say he’s a real pro gamer, even if he didn’t go so far as to make a living from it. So my expectations could never be met by the PS3 controller, I always cried the mouse back, so much so that nowadays I reload Quake 3 once or twice a week, because even though I already have "only" a notebook, it runs flawlessly with 125 frames, which is essential for big jumps.
When I found out what the subject of the test would be, I was a little hesitant. What will you be able to write about a mouse and a half PS3 controller? Then I unpacked, tried it and fell in love. As I wrote on the previous page, it’s an almost perfect piece of art. The little flaws are really tiny - as is the mouse - so there’s nothing stopping me from going back to the store with the price instead of FragFX after the test, because I know I’m not giving out more from my hand. As good as it is, with me, at home, next to the PS3 on the shelf!
