Gamdias Hephaestus P1 - vibrate with your ears!

Introductory

Gamdias, as we described in a previous article, is mainly aimed at gamers with its products, but as you will see, the headphones in this article will be our perfect companion not only for this but also for movies and music.

There are probably fewer of our readers who still remember the first sound cards that knew 3D effects. These were the hardware that were the first to be able to conjure some kind of surround sound into normal stereo outputs into our home computer. And indeed, when we listened to the buzzing of a bee on headphones, it was sometimes almost as if it were flying around our heads.

It has been about 20-25 years since we heard the buzz, which is not a small amount, especially in computer science. Over time, we’ve also learned a lot about what’s new with headphones and PC music. And the Gamdias headphones are a device that carries almost all of the novelties.

This earpiece not only looks good, it also sounds good, and the use of materials is quite special. That’s why it was a great pleasure when it turned out that Gamdias would send this to us for a test as well. We are now sharing our experiences with you!

Packing, outer

The Hephaestus P1 came in a large window box. In addition to the image of the headphones on the front panel, we find the most important capabilities. We will not go into these now, but rather in the operation, we will immediately describe the experiences there.

On the side of the box, you can read the exact data, such as cable length, headphone impedance, or microphone type. We find this information on the back cover, but in six different languages. Of course not in Hungarian, but it is probable that almost everyone can handle the English data.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 14

Opening the box we find the earpiece on a large plastic tray, there is no accessory, we don't really feel the lack of it. Due to the size of the earphones, the box is large, but we’re glad they don’t waste paper on describing it and describing its use, just as we value it as a red dot to not contaminate the ground with unnecessary optical disc. Everything can be downloaded from the internet in seconds.

Picking the headset out of the box, we see that the pictures didn’t lie on the box, the structure is really huge. Its mass is negligible in comparison, only…. now I see that the mass of Hephaestus has been modestly forgotten from everywhere. Well, with the scales, it's certainly 507 grams, and that includes the weight of the thick string.

What first pops up is the metal strap that runs along the top of our head. Thick, strong, beef looks good, the whole structure looks durable from it. Yet no other metal parts can be found on the outside. The plastics, on the other hand, look thick everywhere, so we still don’t feel like we’re crumbling in two in our hands.

Hephaestus received thick pillows on both the scalp and ears. These hide a sponge a little harder than the top strap and a little softer than the speakers. The cover that hides the speakers is pretty drab. The part attached to the strap has the manufacturer’s logo and there are tiny little inscriptions that look really cool.

The microphone usually starts from the left, from where you can drive it in front of your mouth. The middle part is made of rubber, so we can turn the “pickup” in front of us.

It looks very special to be able to see from the front of the housing containing the speakers. True, we don’t see very deep because a large aluminum heat sink closes the “window”. It’s a pretty weird sight on a headphone, but it makes sense.

I haven’t talked about one thing yet, and that is the string connecting the machine and the controller on the cable. The cable is thicker than what we are used to with an average ear. the cover is fabric so it will not tangle and clump. It connects to the earpiece on the left side of the microphone. It also shows that this tool was also designed more for right-wingers. I’m not saying left-handers can’t use it, but they’ll have a better way to get the wire. The cable ends in a USB port, not a Jack, as you would expect from a device designed for such players. The control is about sixty inches from the ear, on which we find a volume control, turning the microphone on and off. There is also a third button, more specifically a three-position switch that can be used to turn VIBRATION on or off in two strengths.

One thing was left out of its external features, and that is that like all gamer stuff available today, it has got RGB LEDs. These can be set from the Hera software, but you can read them later.

I hope you can see in the pictures what I described, but it's just the outside for now. Let's see what Hephaestus P1 is like during use!

Hera software

As with the keyboard shown earlier, you also need to download the Hera software for the tab, which is a great pleasure to download in a portable version, meaning you don't have to install it, start it up, then shut it down, it doesn't lash into the Windows registry.

You can access the settings in four tabs in the program. First, you can select how many channels to use from the incoming sound, turn on virtual 7.1 sound, and turn on 3D effects.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 hera3Gamdias Hephaestus P1 hera4

On the second tab you will find the equalizer with five sliders and pre-programmed settings.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 hera5

The third tab is for virtual sounds. You can set the size of your virtual room, but you can also choose from four types of virtual locations.

The fourth tab is used to adjust the lights. You can use a static setting to select the color of the light. You can also select the Breathing option, which pulses at your heart rate (not your current heart rate). There’s a rainbow setting, that doesn’t need to be explained, in the end it’s called Flash, which is almost like a rainbow, only the colors are different.

Use, comfort

Comfort comes first. As I wrote a good thick padding, this is no problem. The hardness is just right, the sponge doesn't linger on our heads, but there is no clue anywhere. Although the weight of the headphones is quite large, this cannot be felt during use. Of course, my neck may also be stronger than usual, but the chances of that are less. In fact, the wide strap on the top of the head distributes the weight well and presses the side cushions on our head with adequate force. Because of this, we don't feel too much after several hours of use.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 9

There is also a momentum on this tab that is absolutely unusual for comfort equipment, and that is the aluminum rib already mentioned above. More precisely, ribs because we find it on both sides of it. This, as you probably actually guess, is a heat sink whose role of dissipating heat from the ear pads is not to heat our heads. Anyone who has ever used a headset of this size knows that it is not nonsense at all, in a few hours the whole moth can fry on our ears, we sweat as if a separate small heating pad is built in. Well, the Heaptheus P1 is trying to help with that. After many hours of use, I prefer to write like this, try to help me more or less with this. He will more or less succeed. No, it won’t get cool under the pillows, but I didn’t really sweat into it. So, things more or less work.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 10

Overall, I used the Gamdias briefcase for about an hour and a half for an extended period of time, and in the meantime I didn’t feel either heavy or uncomfortable, in fact. There will be no problem with this, let's see the use!

Use, quality

It is important for a headset to be comfortable, but more importantly, it should sound good. Depending on what use a headset is made for, we expect something different and different from it. For pieces sharpened to music, it is important that the highs jingle cleanly so that the middle is pronounced but clear and does not push either the lower or upper range, and we expect the bass sounds to hum in our ears properly. It is also important that the sounds sound pretty clear and well separated from each other.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 3

There are also more important things than a device sharpened for play. One is that we recognize the direction of sounds well. This is a big advantage in a game, our lives can depend on it when we hear where the opponent is coming from. It is important that the depth is appropriate because explosions and other effects sound good. There has to be a normal mid-range, but no one will be offended if it’s not crystal clear, it’s important that the speech comes without distortion, because if a teammate says something and we don’t understand it, it doesn’t mean good either. The treble is almost irrelevant, here the cymbal will not squeak, the guitar will scream.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 4

Since the Heaptheus P1 is a gamer-ear with such an eye, we have to look at the sound quality, and if we look at it that way, it’s perfect. It’s notoriously good not only for games, but also for action movies. What makes the experience complete is the vibration.

You may have read above that the intensity of the vibration can be switched in two stages or eliminated in the third. Well, this vibration is a very weird thing. I was a little afraid that the ears would shake off my head, but no. Even in the stronger gear, we only get a bunch of extra dynamism for the bass. You know, like when in a rock concert, the bassist reaches into the strings and you feel the vibration of the air in your lungs. Well, this vibration gives back a little bit of that feeling, a little bit like you’re listening to music on a speaker, for example.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 6

Anyway, it's important to note that Gamdias is also suspected to recommend the earpiece for music, because the equalizer in Hera software has a burned-in profile for several types of music, such as dance, rock, rap, metal, etc. However, while you can listen to music on this earpiece, if you’re looking for the right instrument for it, I don’t recommend spending money on it. If you bought it to play or watch movies with it, then of course you can also listen to music, you won’t have any trouble with it.

Overall, I have to say it’s perfect for playing and movies, strong for music. I’ve had the good fortune to try out an ear for music, which didn’t even come close to the quality of it.

Mistakes

Unfortunately, the moment has not yet come for me to test hardware that is flawless in every way. There are always minor or major flaws, though, these days I have a lot of Chinese gadgets from a company called X that are close to perfect. The fact is that Gamdias Hephaestus P1 is the same. The only neuralgic point is the stuff in the software, in which the equalizer sometimes goes crazy and everything fades completely when you move the sliders. Likewise, if I select a pre-programmed profile, the volume may drop to one-tenth.

Luckily, it's all the bugs I've discovered, it's just software, so it may not even occur to you, but if it does, it will sooner or later be fixed.

Summary

I think you already know from the article that we liked the Gamdias product called Hephaestus P1 RGB. It’s a really comfortable structure built of quality materials, which sounds perfect when it comes to games, and since it’s a structure designed primarily for gamers, it’s no longer worth expecting more from it.

Gamdias Hephaestus P1 11

I really liked solutions like vibration and heatsink, and of course RGB is also very flashy. We haven’t talked about the 7.1 virtual system yet, which is why we don’t like such emulations much. Not bad, and the software has evolved a lot since the bee mentioned in the introduction, but it’s still not a 7.1 system where individual channels come from separate radiators. So the point is good-good, but not even real.

Regardless, you can really get directions based on sounds while playing, if 7.1 if not.

The quality is very good, it's great for games and movies, the RGB is awful, but that's why they ask for the price. At the time of writing, the highest price on the comparison page is the lowest price for HUF 24 and the highest price they are asking for is HUF 770. That is why it is worth giving good for money. Gamdias also gives, there is no mistake with that, so if you have that much savings that you can spend on a professional gamer's ear, we dare to recommend it with a calm heart.

So at the end of the article we would like to thank the For Gamdias the opportunity to try out two of their hardware! You can buy their products from the following domestic distributors: LINK

Here you can read our article about Gamdias Hermes P2 RGB keyboard.

Dear readers, we recommend that you visit Our Facebook page, because you can win one of the hardware in the sweepstakes starting the week after the article is published. I will note in the article that a keyboard will cost more than 30 thousand forints on a basic tone, and this tab will cost 25, so it will be worth playing!
