Windows XP is not yet officially supported on the HD 7900 series

AMD does not currently provide official support for Windows Xp for the Radeon HD 7900 series. However, there is nothing to worry about because the soon-to-be-released Catalyst drive will clear this chip.

Windows XP is not yet officially supported on the HD 7900 series

The announcement highlights that AMD Crossfire, OpenCL and AMD Eyefinity are not supported for the HD 7900 series, if we are using Microsoft's already "retired" system. These new technologies are already incompatible (at least officially) with the operating system released in 2001. In addition to HD 7900 series controllers, Windows Vista or Windows 7 is required to exploit AMD CrossFireX and OpenCL.

In fact, the good old Windows XP cannot be called a modern system, but we suspect another reason in the background. The novelties of the GCN architecture pose a serious challenge to programmers who no longer want to deal with the past. Whether you like it or not, it’s definitely worth switching to Windows 7 to take full advantage of the card’s capabilities, so we don’t feel like it’s a huge problem. Anyone who has already purchased a member of the Radeon HD 7900 but would insist on Windows Xp will still have to wait for the official driver.
