Introductory

Before last year, we moved into the new barn in August, and it soon turned out that the air was much dustier than I expected. I even got a mid-range Xiaomi air purifier before Christmas, which would have been a solution if I looked at the air cubic meter, but unfortunately it was only a mistake to pay attention to it.

Around last summer, it was already clear that an air purifier would not be enough. I just couldn’t position the machine to keep the air in more secluded rooms, such as the bathroom, or even in the rooms, dust-free.

Equally problematic was the fact that my office in the basement was terribly dusty. By this I mean that if I wipe the dust off the table, I can wipe it again the next day, on the surfaces I don’t wipe daily, a thick gray layer is deposited by the end of the snow.

The solution paid off, I had to look for cheap, smaller air purifiers. After a lot of vacillation and price-performance calculations, I decided to buy BlitzHome (wolf) machines. The Ap1, which is smart and will clean the air in the nursery, and the even cheaper AP1C, which is silly and will work in my office.

Of course, I also thought that shopping would be a good opportunity to do a comparative test, which I will pass on to you this time!

Packaging and exterior

It is no coincidence that I wrote in the title that they are twins, as the two machines are 99 percent identical on the outside. The 1 percent difference is the name of the device on the packaging and the control on the cover, but I'll get to the latter later.

So the point is, if you unpack the two machines, you won’t know which one at a glance at first glance. The cover, the colors of the plastics, the filter cover (or rather the sole), the filter insert are all the same. I was a little saddened that the plan to make the comparative article was meaningless.

The first hand makes a good impression. The quality of the plastics and assembly is absolutely good. We’ve gotten used to Blitzwolf not being really behind Xiaom in that respect. What sets Blitzwolf air purifiers apart from the products of its more renowned competitor is that the latter forces the column, the former the round shape.

Both the BlitzHome AP1 and AP1C are round. The filter insert is hidden behind the lower part of the cover, which can be accessed after turning the bayonet-locked base.

Listen, once your air filter has arrived, take out the filter insert and tear off the nylon because not much air will pass through the plastic!

The tops of the machines look especially good with the large gray plastic grille and the touch-sensitive, illuminated buttons in the middle. And here comes the only difference between the two machines that can be seen from the outside without turning it on. While the AP1 has 2 speeds to choose from, the AP1C has three gears. True, AP1 also has an automatic setting, I will write about that in the next chapter.

So the point is this:

You will not be able to choose between the AP1 and the AP1C due to the external or filter insert, as the two machines are exactly the same and the insert is exactly the same in both!

.

I thought it was important to put the capabilities of the two products in a table to see, there is no difference in terms of air purification capabilities. The ideal room size is the same, the amount of air that can be cleaned per unit time is the same and the maximum noise generated is the same.

Okay, but if everything is the same, what's the difference? As the introduction reveals the presence or absence of wisdom!

The BH-AP1 has a sensor that monitors the degree of purity of the air, while the BH-AP1C does not have one. We find a Wi-Fi module in the AP1, while the AP1C is also left out. The presence or absence of these two elements causes serious differences in use.

Wi-Fi allows the machine to connect to our home Internet, so we can control it from our phone, even remotely via mobilenet. Moreover, since we can integrate it into multiple smart home systems, we can also figure out rules for use. For example, to turn it on or off at a specified time. Such that (in combination with a window opener) if the window is open in the room, stop, do not want to make the street air clean.

The air quality sensor is also useful, as it makes it possible to use the automatic mode. In this case, it automatically changes the fan speed and thus the amount of air that can be cleaned per unit time, depending on the purity of the air.

With regard to the sensor, it is important to highlight another difference between the two machines! It’s about an LED strip running around the bottom of the Blitzhome BH-AP1 that illuminates the floor. If the light is green the air is clean, if it is polluted it is orange, if it is very polluted it is red. In the case of the BH-AP1C, due to the lack of a sensor, we do not receive such a series of LEDs and feedback marked in color.

In contrast, with the Blitzhome BH-AP1C, we only have the option to select a speed with the buttons on the top of the machine and to schedule a shutdown, but only for fixed hours. The choice can be 1-, 2-, 4- or 8 hours.

Use and experience

Maybe no one will be surprised that the machines work just as loudly or just quietly. At the beginning of the previous chapter, the values in the table are maxima, and none of the machines are quiet.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 10

The specified cleaning capacities also apply to the maximum speed values, but this should not be surprised if the room air is clean or only slightly dusty, if the vents rotate slowly, it will be enough.

Our air purifiers are programmed. Since we are constantly in the apartment (we are not going to work), the machines turn on at eight in the morning and turn off at ten in the evening. Or, they turn off even if I open the window or patio door, as I wrote above, this is also possible if we are using a smart home system.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 11

However, the point is not this, but one of the shortcomings that I wanted to draw your attention to. And for the BH-AP1, this is the bottom row of LEDs that cannot be turned off or dimmed. For us, this is not a problem, the air purifiers stop at night, but for those who want to use them in the bedroom at night, light can be a factor in the purchase.

Fortunately, I can't report any other negatives!

The next question may be which machine is worth choosing for you, smart or stupid!

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 12

The silly is cheaper, of course, but not by much. However, which one you choose may depend on where and how you use them. I have a lot of smart stuff at home, and some of them have a lot of cleverness. I used to give up my desk lamp. It’s good to be able to control it from your phone, but it’s unnecessary. If I sit down at the table I will not turn on the phone because there is a lamp next to my hand, I will press the power button.

This is also the case with air purifiers, and that’s why I chose the butane for the office and the smart one for the apartment.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 13

It will be positioned in the office so that when I sit down to work it will be at hand so I will start it with one touch, when I finish the work I will turn it off with one touch. Since I know the air is very dusty, I do not care about the automatic mode either, just go constantly, clean the air!

In the apartment, however, the automatic mode is good. When my sons start running in the apartment, the air purifiers automatically shift to a higher gear. If you don’t go crazy you will fade nicely again.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 14

The timing is also good as I can turn it off at night. I know when my guys are going to bed, so I can set the air purifier to turn on at the specified time for the night and then at the specified time in the morning.

I think this example is enough for you to see there will be situations where it is unnecessary to buy a more expensive, smart air purifier.

Conclusion

Since we have been using an air purifier at home for more than a year now, I know what is accumulating on your filter. Amazing amount of powder. It's bad to think we're sucking in that. Anyway, the effect of the air purifier can be felt when it is turned on. There is a continuous, very fine air movement in the apartment and the air feels fresher.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 16

Because of the good experience, and of course the health of the family, I decided to invest in two more, cheaper machines. I can’t say yet how these will affect the dustiness of the apartment and office, but I hope the difference will be felt in the nursery as well as in my workplace.

Based on my current experience, I suggest that you don’t buy a high-performance appliance for your home, but rather a little more. There will be no big difference in price, and in a sectioned apartment, smaller appliances will work much more efficiently. Of course, if you live in a big room where there are no rooms or restrooms, take it without saying.

BlitzHome BH-AP1 and AP1C - Cheap Air Purifier Twin Test 17

But let's see the prices!

Of course I asked you for a coupon so you can buy air purifiers cheaper! Without a coupon, the difference between the two machines is barely 3 forints, with a coupon it increases to more than 5000 forints.

In practice, this means that the price of the smart Blitzhome BH-AP1 is a BGHU1430 with coupon code, shipping costs, shipping insurance, HUF 27 from a European warehouse, while the price of the silly Blitzhome AP890C with the same conditions, but the BGHU1431 with a coupon code only HUF 22.

I don’t think you’ll get another air purifier with this capacity and performance for that much money.
