We have tried two cheap but high capacity Blitzwolf ovens, here you can read our experience.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test

Check out the ovens in action in my video test:

Introductory

If someone asks me to recall an odor from my childhood that is related to the kitchen, surely the smell of burnt oil comes to mind first. Sure, there are some of my readers who can report other experiences, but unfortunately for us, the oil was also expensive to pour out after every frying.

In addition to the smell of oil, however, there was still something from his childhood, the adoration of french fries and fried (and of course fried) chicken legs. You may be guessing that these two things are somewhat contradictory, since without oil, without the smell of oil, it is not easy to make either delicious french fries or delicious chicken legs.

I have been looking for a solution for this for quite some time, or quite precisely for an affordable solution. Hot air ovens are praised by many, but at least as many are scolded. I don’t really understand the reason because the principle of operation is the same, no matter what the brand. So I don't understand where this can be ruined.

I know from my own experience that the capacity of cheap (Lidl, Aldi) ovens available at home is not enough for us. 2-3-4 liters are very small, in fact, in some cases even the larger ones, 5-6 liters we feel scarce.

So I dropped the little ones.

In our Facebook group, however, one of Blitzwolf’s ovens received a lot of praise. It was also one of the largest in terms of capacity, 6 liters. I decided to take it, give it a try, see if I would love it too, and I could even write an article about it.

But what life is like. I morphed into months to buy it, and then about a week after I bought it, and about. two days before I arrived, a Banggood employee wrote to me that I would like me to try out their new BlitzHome (BlitzHome’s new brand name for Blitzwolf home appliances) hot air ovens.

On the one hand, I shook my head because I spent money unnecessarily when I get one as a gift, and on the other hand, I was happy to be able to compare the two, which will result in a perhaps even better article. Yes, that's exactly what you're reading!

What do ovens know?

Well, the older one I bought (Blitzwolf BW-AF1) is a smart oven, which is the usual thing in this case too, can be controlled from a phone and we can see the remaining baking time on our mobile as well.

Before anyone is scared, it’s not mandatory to control the mobile with buttons on the top of the device that are touch sensitive anyway, so maybe they’ll be ruined a little later because the greasy steam doesn’t get into their mechanics.

However, there are no longer one, but two versions of the newer oven. Perhaps they at Blitzwolf also realized that not everyone requires cleverness, there are those who are smoothly satisfied with the usual wandering buttons, in return they have to leave a little less at the checkout.

Since the oven I bought is smart, I also asked the gift oven to be smart so that the comparison will be complete.

If you are not angry with the working principle, that is, I will not go into the physics / chemistry of baking, because it is superfluous, everyone has a guess as to what happens to the hot air. In short, it cooks what we put in the oven.

The new and old versions are, of course, the same in terms of working principle. There is a “drawer” with a grid at the bottom, we put the baking in it. The warm air comes from above, which can completely walk around the things to bake, and then everything cooks nicely in the high heat, approx. as if we had put it in a traditional hot air oven. At best, the process will only be much faster due to its small size, and we will save not only time but also money because we will need less electricity.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 4

However, in addition to the same operating principle, we also find important differences between the two ovens. The first to see the older version, now called the Blitzwolf BW-AF1 at 1800 watts, while the newer, the BlitzHome BH-AF2 is only 1500 watts. Another advantage of the BW-AF1 is that its basket is 6 liters, while in the newer version we get “only” a 5 liter basket.

This is not very surprising so far, in addition to the smaller capacity, the lower power is suspected to be enough. The Blitzwolf BW-AF1 is capable of creating air between 40-200 Celsius, which is again just the same as the BlitzHome BH-AF2.

So, be smart now, put the garage down with a larger space size or less power (so presumably less power consumption)? Well, this article will be good for this so that everyone can decide what will be good for him!

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 5

Let's see what was considered important in the store to highlight among the capabilities of the devices!

Blitzwolf BW-AF1

  • Timed baking
  • Fry up to 6 kilos of chicken at a time, but you can also bake fish, steaks, chips, pizza
  • Precise temperature control, evenly distributes heat, eliminates the need to turn food over, retains food's water content and forms a crispy layer on the surface
  • Automatic timer (0-60 minutes)
  • Adjustable temperature (40 ℃ -200 ℃)
  • HD screen (hahaha, without it sure wouldn't be good 😉)
  • Audible warning when baking is complete
  • Removable basket, easy to clean, prevents oil / grease from dripping when removing food
  • Protection against switching off, pull out the basket and you can check the food at any time

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 6

BlitzHome BH-AF2

  • With simple APP control you can check the real-time cooking status, the set time, the default and the DIY menu (smart version)
  • Intuitive top touch panel (smart version)
  • Button setting: Easy to set the right time and temperature for precise baking (mechanical version)
  • Technology: Hot air circulation and even heating, heat reflection inside the chamber can slow down heat loss, does not dry out food
  • RNC technology: 20% noise reduction, fan resonance noise filtering technology for a quiet working environment
  • 5 l large capacity: Perfect for a family dinner
  • More smart recipes + cooking modes: In the kitchen, newcomers can also prepare delicious meals
  • Easy to clean: The removable frying basket has a non-stick coating and is easy to clean. dishwasher safe
  • Healthy baking: You can achieve a perfect fried result with little or no oil.

Now let’s try to interpret the above, filtering out marketing bulshitt!

As I wrote, the old 6- is the new 5 liter. Both are suitable for the whole family due to their size. Obviously, 5 is less than 6, and if you have a big family, the bigger the basket the better.

Both can be timed baking (smart version, and in the case of AF2 mechanical as well), and both have app control (smart version).

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 7

We also get recipes for both. These are not really recipes, just preset temperature and cooking time control values for different meats. Although not a recipe, but it promises to be useful.

HD display and intuitive display. Well, an HD display for an oven needs as much as a glass lake for a recumbent fall, that is, for nothing. Of course, if you already have a display look good. I don’t know how intuitive the control panel is, the fact is that approx. the control is simple, if it is the intuitive Hungarian equivalent, then it is.

Various sounding technologies. It’s good to have some, manufacturers put a name on every bullshit because it’s much better to have a lot of technology listed. However, it turns out that the newer version is expected to be the quieter and the newer one will bake more evenly. At least that’s the paper format, I think the first one didn’t have ASH 1.0 yet, but the others have evolved into ASH 2.0.

It’s pretty much this paper form, let’s look at the software, i.e. the phone app!

Smart functions, application

The first and most important thing about both ovens is to find the wifi network with it. To do this, you need to reset wifi, but it doesn't work the same on both machines.

Blitzwolf BW-AF1: For an older oven, press the left “menu” and the right power button at the same time until you hear a beep.

BlitzHome BH-AF2: When the oven is switched off, touch and do not release the on / off button for approx. For 5 seconds, the small wifi signal will flash.

If we have done the previous steps, we will select the kitchen utensils in the application, there the hot air oven. The program will search for a nearby device, perform its tuning, that is, pass the data needed to access the wifi, and we are ready.

The next step is to load the oven surface, where you can choose the temperature, baking time, or choose from preset modes (french fries, fish, steak, etc.) The two applications are very similar in terms of use, the AF2 surface is a bit more colorful, smelly, but basic there is no difference.

Baking can start!

Experiences

Let’s start with the fact that we can find fundamental differences between the baskets of the two ovens. The older 6-liter tank consists of two parts, a piece with a perforated lattice bottom that can be lifted separately from the closed outer container. This invisibly anticipates that hot air can really go around what we want to bake.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 9

The newer oven, on the other hand, does not have a separate inner and outer part, it has a separate grid, which makes it possible to get warm to the bottom during baking and to prevent the food to be baked from burning against the bottom of the holder. There are no side holes here either. so, smoothly after visual inspection I do not know the hot air that gets into the bottom when, for example, I fill a frying pan with potatoes.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 10

Both ovens have a non-stick coating, but how good this will be will be seen in the following tests.

I wrote above that the newer oven got an HD display and an intuitive control panel. Well, the HD display is fake, there are simply pictograms, next to it we get a simple display to show the temperature and the remaining time.

The operation and the use of the buttons have changed a bit, but for convenience and other reasons I can't differentiate between the ovens.

Now you can really start baking!

I bought chicken drumsticks, I want to make some of them for fried chicken, the rest for fried chicken. I bought two slices of trout, I won’t overcomplicate them, a little spice, salt, pepper, paprika, and then I bake it. I bought a frozen Viennese steak, it's fried meat again, just from pork. Garnish with straw potatoes and onion rings, and finally a small cocoa roll for dessert, which is also frozen.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 11

That's pretty much it, now the experience can really come! I will go nicely in line with the meats and more and describe what I experienced with both ovens.

Viennese steak: The meat was mirelite, meaning pre-fried, so presumably there was a little oil in the “fur”. This was not a problem with the smell, the smell of roasting meat could only be felt, nothing else. The meat did not have to be rotated in either oven during frying, they were nicely fried on both sides.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 12

Blitzwolf BW-AF1: The baking length was 20 minutes and the baking temperature was 200 Celsius. The 20 minutes I think was a little short, but the fact is that this Viennese slice in the shop wasn’t clumped thin enough. If it had been that 20 minutes would have been enough.

Blitzwolf BH-AF2: Despite the slightly thicker meat, 20 minutes was enough, and maybe it would have been better to take it out after 18-19 minutes. Luckily, it didn't get overcooked either, we didn't chew on our soles.

Chicken: As I wrote above, I bought chicken drumsticks, six pieces so average in size. I breaded two of them in a classic way (salt, flour, eggs, pretzel), salted the remaining four and gave them a little chicken spice mix.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 13

Blitzwolf BW-AF1: You used the factory setting, i.e. I selected the wing. The baking time was 25 minutes, this is the factory setting. The roast chicken was perfect, true halfway through the frying time, for sure, which I must have turned my thighs over.

In the case of fried chicken, a little oil was needed, halfway through the frying, I smeared the fur thinly with a brush, so it was good, it would not have gone without the oil. Next time I'm going to brush at the beginning. Fortunately, this minimal amount of oil did not produce an odor.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 14

Blitzwolf BH-AF2: Everything turned out as in the case of AF1, the only difference was that the baking time was 20 minutes at the factory. I felt the baking time was short, I gave it an extra 3 minutes so it became perfect, approx. is like in AF1 in 25 minutes.

Hal: So I didn't mess around here much. They were thin fillets, peppers, salt, freshly ground pepper, nothing else. I won’t detail the ovens here because everything was perfect. The factory setting for frying fish is 1 minutes and 12 degrees for AF200 and 2 minutes and 12 degrees for AF180. It was excellent!

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 15

PotatoA: I bought straw potatoes not the kind called rustic or boat, so compare to that. Straw is much thinner, so it takes less time to bake. It is important to turn the fries, especially if you are baking a larger portion than half the frying, at least once.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test

Blitzwolf BW-AF1: Here is a menu of specifically frozen potatoes, there are also fries, but I chose the frozen one. The factory value is 30 minutes and 180 Celsius. That was a lot for the straw potatoes. In retrospect, I would say that 25 minutes would have been enough. It didn’t become inedible either, but it became too crunchy for my taste.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 17

Blitzwolf BH-AF2: There are no frozen potatoes here, there are smooth fries. The factory setting is 200 degrees Celsius and 20 minutes. It got exactly the same texture as AF1, so at 200 degrees, 20 minutes was a bit much.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 18

Onion rings: I don't choose the two ovens here either. Since there are no onion rings among the factory baking modes, I set the ovens the way I read on the bag, it was perfect. The texture and taste of the hoops and fur were also okay, if I had anointed with oil they would probably have turned nicer.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 19

Ignite: It was also mirelit, the bag was written 180 degrees and 17 minutes, I took it out after 15 minutes. That's how he became perfect!

Summary

First of all, I have to point out that both ovens are perfectly baked, so there is no difference between them in this form. Although in the newer version the manufacturer has highlighted the HD display and intuitive controls, this is approx. it means nothing. Not worse or no better than the older machine.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 20

As can be seen from the above, there are differences in baking times and temperatures between the preset profiles of the two machines, but this can be due in large part to the difference in power or the design of the baking dish. To be sure, even though the older version of the pan looks more airy, it has neither an advantage nor a disadvantage in terms of baking.

What’s important, though, is that the AF2 is actually quieter than its predecessor, but perhaps more importantly, it heats up much less during baking. I note I didn’t bake for 1 hour before I was done with everything but it got dark.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 21

I mentioned above what the non-stick surface will look like. Well, it turned out it didn't burn down and nothing added to it, so it was good.

How did the food look?

As I wrote, there are cakes where you will need a little fat, these were the dishes I made in my fur. However, there are plenty of recipes available on the net for such ovens, there they usually offer oil spray, which can be used to spray meat thinner than a brush.

Fortunately, it is a fact that despite the minimal oil, there is no smell of oil in the apartment, maximum cool smell of roasting.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 22

It is very important to me that it has been proven that not only frozen stuff can be baked in them. You may think this is natural, but believe me it isn’t, I’ve seen an oven in which almost nothing could be made except frozen french fries.

It also shows that there can be a difference between apples and apples, i.e. a hot air oven and a hot air oven. This is weird because these are terribly simple structures, a heating pad, a fan, a thermostat and a timer are all you need. And of course the baking dish.

So you might think this is hard to stab, but unfortunately it isn’t.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 23

All in all, therefore, the two devices of the Blitzwolf stood the test, which I baked became perfect, did not dry out, the flavors remained. In addition, the machines did a very good service the next day, when the fries and fries of the previous day had to be made fresh. It turned out to be about like when I took it out fresh after baking.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 24

As with my cooking tests so far, we had guests now (somehow I had to destroy a lot of food), so I could ask for their opinion. According to this, I overcooked the Viennese slice a bit, so, contrary to what was described above, 20 minutes would probably have been enough. The fish became perfect, as did the chicken legs.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 25

The onion ring was perfect, but the straw potatoes overcooked. You really have to pay attention to that, no matter how thick the potato strips are. The cocoa roll just got perfect again, even though the tummy was full, so half of it ran out as a dessert.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 26

So baking, according to the poll, was mostly good, where not, I should have varied a bit with the baking time. I warmed the ovens well before the first use, I washed the baskets properly, maybe it was due to this that the sharp test no longer had any disturbing smell of food.

Now may come the question of which one is worth buying.

Interestingly, the difference in capacity per liter didn’t show up during use, but if the family is large, don’t risk it, take the BW-AF1. However, this has the disadvantage that the external size seems to be larger not only by one liter but by several. So, if your kitchen cabinets have limited capacity, stay with the BH-AF2.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 27

There is not much difference in price between the two structures, the AF1 is more expensive by a few thousand, but the difference is negligible.

If you don’t want to use smart features, you don’t want to take the opportunity to e.g. you can turn it on remotely so that by the time the family gets home the ready dinner is waiting for you, you can also choose the silly version of the AF2, which has mechanical switches, as the cheapest solution. There is no difference in baking ability.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 28

I also recommend these ovens - especially to those who have baked them with an oil fryer so far. For them, these machines will be a real pleasure because they can do everything in them so far, but there will be no smell of oil, no need to spill oil, pour in, they will not drip anything together.

Plus, they can fry a lot of pasta food, ones that aren’t in the oily fryer. For example, frozen cake, or any kind of pizza and a thousand other things from fur bread to toast. So, as usual, the possibilities are limited only by our imagination.

Baking without the smell of oil - Blitzwolf hot air ovens test 29

So the point is that both ovens are disappointing, what they promise, they give. They are quick to use, the dishes can be washed in the dishwasher. Warming up is a matter of minutes, so it’s not a matter of ruining traditional air-mixed ovens in time, in energy efficiency.

If you liked the ovens, you can also order them from the Czech (CZ) warehouse by clicking on the links below:
