I don't think that, apart from a few thousand (ten thousand?) people, there is anyone in Hungary today who doesn't think about being able to curb their electricity and gas consumption from August. Although we don't yet know by how much whose costs will increase, our government has given us an insight into the options, and none of these options have been very attractive.

We could argue whether it is good or bad to end the overhead reduction in this way, but perhaps not whether the money spent on reducing overhead in the last decade, essentially wasted, could have been spent more wisely, thinking in the longer term. People could have been trained to live an energy-conscious life (this does not necessarily lead to a deterioration in the quality of life), free support could have been given to promote energy saving, house insulation, window replacement and the like.

If it hasn't happened so far, now we have the fruits of the missed "investments" of the past decade all at once. There is no time to get used to it or escape, we will be forced to live with it. As energy industry experts say, high energy prices will be with us for years. Despite any promises, it would be strange if fuel prices didn't soon follow electricity and gas. So there is something to think about!

In this article I will show you some ideas. There will certainly be people who will argue with me, start dividing and multiplying the return in addition to the current prices, but I believe that this is also like the insulation of houses, you buy it, put it on, and from then on the monthly expenses are less. Every month.

With the products, I go from the simplest to the more complicated and, of course, more expensive.

Switched distributors, extensions

The use of these distributors naturally requires some attention, since we have to disconnect them manually. At the same time, it is worth dealing with this, because a lot of small things go a long way, and maybe (on an annual basis) it is just this small thing that is needed in order not to cross the border and still get a reduced price for utilities.

There are also many types of these structures, I am showing two that are reasonably priced, they are in EU warehouses, and they also have a USB port. The advantage of these is that they do not require a separate phone charger, which we will then leave plugged in, but can directly charge our phone, tablet, or watch. In addition, if we put it next to the TV, where I have e.g. there is the amplifier, DVD player, soundbar, air purifier, etc., so I can turn everything off with one switch when the family settles down.

Solar lamps

This is a product class that has been successful so far, as we not only save money by not needing electricity, but also by not needing cabling. More precisely, electricity is needed, but it is produced by the solar panel, so there are no additional costs. Of course, they won't give as much light as a twenty-two LED lamp, but they are enough to see where the sidewalk is in the dark and not to fall over the child's bicycle left outside. So they are useful.

There are a million and one varieties of these, I will only cite two in this article, but if someone is interested in the range, you can choose freely in the store. In the first one, as the name suggests, 260 LED light sources were installed. It also has a motion sensor and a light sensor, so it only starts working after sunset, and only when motion is detected, as needed. There are three operating modes to choose from. In the first one, it lights up continuously after sunset. In the second, it only turns on after sunset if it detects movement, and in the third, it lights up with a dim light after sunset, which gets stronger when it detects movement.

It has slightly higher brightness than the previous piece, and you can choose from two types of LED versions. It lights up in energy-saving mode in the dark, and when it detects movement, it switches to full brightness. The detection distance is 8-12 meters. Smart sockets

The smart outlet will not automatically reduce your consumption. This is already part of being energy-conscious, since it is not only about being able to turn the outlet on or off from your phone, but also about seeing how much electricity is flowing through it, that is, you can measure the consumption even per outlet.

Since they are smart devices, you can also integrate them into smart home systems, but you can also set various automated rules, for example, that at 11:XNUMX p.m. the power outlet will turn off, de-energizing the devices plugged into it. This is the product that I would also like to recommend in addition to the distributors, as we can disconnect all the devices plugged into the distributor at the same time.

In this article, I will not present a smart device, but it is worth considering this line further, since smart LED lights are also useful, and not only because you can turn them off from your phone, but also because you set the intensity of the light, thus also changing the consumption of the lamp. In short, there won't be too much light anywhere, only as much as you need.

Isolated solar energy storage

These things are essentially enlarged power banks, which also come with a solar panel, so charging them doesn't cost any money either. These also have different sizes, i.e. capacities. In this article, I have selected those that have a two-pin connector, which means that you can also plug in consumers operating with normal power supply voltage.

The smaller power packages can only use 220-240 watts at the 100-120 volt output, but the larger ones can even use 500 watts or more. They also have a USB port, some have built-in flashlights, and some have a Bluetooth speaker. So the choice is essentially endless.

These packs are designed for camping, but I won't be using mine when it arrives because I hate camping. However, I have a place where I can spread out the solar panels, and I plan to charge my electric vehicles, scooters, bikes from now on. Of course, this can also be used to charge a phone or tablet, but primarily I would like to reduce the cost of my electric transport with sockets.

If you are camping, you can even charge all the phones at the campsite with such a package, even without a solar panel, you can last a week with just the battery, of course, only if you do not want to use it to operate a refrigerator or other large consumer.
