Some tuning and custom cooling characterize PowerColor’s latest HD 4870

The dual slot cooling of the AX4870 512MD5 has enough power to boost the GPU clock, even if not drastically, by a few MHz.

The PowerColor graphic controller offers a "brutal" look thanks to its large fan and the copper heat-conducting pipes sticking out from under the plastic cover. The dual-slot cooling is so efficient that the clock signal of the graphics processor featuring 800 shading units could be increased by 20 MHz, but the memory did not change. The composition of the connection points on the rear metal plate can be a source of some disappointment — no DisplayPort, no HDMI, only two DVI and a TV output.
