The first HD-DVD drives to be built into a PC are available

A member of an American forum offers for sale the HD-DVD devices he has in his possession.

According to news on the Engadget website, anyone who really wants to can now get NEC HR-1100A readers without warranty. For the time being, of course, it doesn't make much sense to own one, as the media it supports is still a long way from launching.

The HR-1100A reads HD-DVD discs at 2 × speeds, plain DVDs at 8 ×, and plain CDs at 32 ×. Currently, we can get them for 120 dollars (24 thousand forints), which is not too low a price. We will certainly be able to buy cheaper on store shelves.
