Lite-On has introduced an external optical drive

The featherweight novelty roasts DVDs at eight times the speed.

The manufacturer recommends the product with the "eTAU108" type symbol primarily for netbooks; although owners of small machines will probably only see the use of an external optical drive when reinstalling the operating system. Weighing only 350 grams, the device can also provide excellent service if you want to archive your data on the hard drive or if you want to access a document on a DVD. When designing the device, the engineers kept maximum mobility in mind, so the accessory is connected to the computer via a single USB cable, which can be turned upside down and attached to the bottom of the drive when not in use. The USB 2.0 port on the computer is entirely responsible for the power supply; no separate power supply is required to use the accessory.

The "eTAU108", which can be purchased in black or white, will be available on store shelves in September at the earliest, at a purchase price of around HUF 12.
