GE has released the names of eight winners who redesigned the support brackets used to mount aircraft engines using three-dimensional printing as part of a design competition announced by the company.

The first prize of $ 7000 was won by M Arie Kurniawan of Salatiga, Indonesia. The Hungarian rider, Peter Mándli, finished in sixth place.

The top ten support bracket designs were manufactured at the company’s factory using additive manufacturing technology, and then the finished brackets were subjected to rigorous load testing. The component failure test was designed to ensure that the winning brackets met the highest standards of quality and performance. This is because jet gear brackets play a very important role: they must keep the weight of the gear while moving it without breaking or warping.
