Another TSMC expansion is expected in the future

The contractor seems to want to set up another facility to maximize production capacity.

The world’s largest contract manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), began construction on its third giant plant (Fab 15) in July this year, the cornerstone of which was laid in June 2010. Such a facility allows more than 100.000 wafer to be completed in a month. Two of them are currently operating at full capacity. Once the third plant, Fab 15, is completed, TSMC will not stop expanding, as construction plans for the fourth complex (Fab 16) have already begun. Fab 15, by the way, has digested $ 10.000.000.000 billion and they plan to spend the same amount on Fab 16. The construction process itself will certainly not begin before 2014, but once completed, all of TSMC’s plants will produce 600.000 pieces of 300mm silicon wafers per month.
