Róbert Butyka was sentenced to three years in prison, but the sentence was suspended for seven years. Although the verdict is not final, the judge has ruled that the 26-year-old man will be released on remand on Tuesday, meaning he will be released, a spokesman for the Cluj-Napoca court told Mediafax news agency.

A hacker from Cluj using the nickname Iceman on the World Wide Web was cracked down on November 2011, 16 by Romanian authorities, according to a NASA report. The young man is said to have caused $ 300 in damage to the U.S. Space Agency by hacking into his IT system and changing his passwords there. Removing traces of his intervention cost an additional $ 200 and took three months of work.

The Romanian papers reported as a sensation that the young man had completed only nine classes. At the defendant's request, the trial took place behind closed doors. The defense attorney said: Róbert Butyka admitted his guilt and regretted it. The hacker in Cluj-Napoca will also have to answer for his actions in a civil lawsuit in March. NASA is trying to recover half a million dollars on it.
