Onkyo has introduced a nettop machine with a removable optical drive

The unusually designed device is based on the NVIDIA ION platform.

There are already as many competitors in the netop machine market as there are stars in the sky, but we can only inform our readers about real novelty in the rarest cases. Well, this is the case now, because Onkyo's novelty - for the first time on the market - arrives on store shelves with an optical drive that can be connected to the base machine in a modular way. One of the advantages of this solution is that the machine can be used with or without a drive according to the user's needs, but it is much more promising that due to the unique solution, the original DVD-ROM unit can even be replaced later, for example a Blu-ray drive. drive that specializes in handling ray discs.

In terms of other parameters of the Onkyo P3, the solutions seen in competing models are echoed: in addition to the Intel Atom N230 processor, it includes 2 GB of system memory, a 160 GB hard drive and a GeForce 9400M graphics core. The equipment also includes 4 USB 2.0 sockets, an eSATA port, HDMI output, Wi-Fi radio and a memory card reader.

The only negative related to the device, which will enter the market in May 2010, is to be found in its purchase price: without a monitor, the device will be able to be taken home for approximately HUF 140, which seems somewhat exaggerated considering the pricing of direct competitors.
