Chuwi Hi9 Pro - Introduction

Many manufacturers try to ride gamer users, from PCs to the category of phones and tablets. More and more gamer phones and gamer tablets appear on the market. In the computer segment, the gamer flag usually means a combination of striking external and even stronger hardware. Portable devices also meet the first exposure but the second less. Not because these phones and tablets would not be strong, there is much more to do with hardware than the number of usable units or the variance available with the mixing of different hardware.

Manufacturers are forced to put the strongest units in the two major manufacturers, Qualcomm and MediaTek, but such central units are also the strongest, yet everyday, phones. What distinguishes gamer units from "simple" high-end phones and tablets? For example, solutions such as the Xiaomi heat conducting pipes - they are a liquid cooler - are solutions that, due to their higher cooling power, are capable of spinning the underclocked processors for a long period of time at maximum clock speeds.

However, there are also hardware that, apart from being really strong, are no different from any other "average" strong iron. Let's find out, Chuwi H9 Pro is like that. If so, then the question is, why take this, why not take another tablet. In this article, we are trying to find an answer.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro - Unpacking and Exterior

Hi9 Pro comes with a 20 x 23 centimeter brown box. Below and above we only get the brand name, but the relevant information is on the sticker sticker on the side of the box. It reveals the size and type of the display, the type and clock of the central unit, memory and storage capacity, the color of the tablet, and the important fact that we have a European version in our hands.

With the cover raised on the right, look at the packed zip, next to the hinged carton, the charger and the USB Type-C cable (I do not have to use a different charger for my phone and tablet).

The tablet is highlighted with another hinged cover, with a setup instruction in Chinese and English and hidden there will be a needle to remove the SIM tray.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro is an exquisite chassis, built from good materials. The back plate is made of metal, except for the lower and upper edges, and at the junction of the two materials there is a bright chrome strip. The camera is located at the top left of the back cover, unfortunately, protrudes slightly from the back, so it is worth getting some protective cover so that we do not scratch it.

A camcorder can be found on the front of the speaker. It's strange to say, but the power button is the only element of the Chuwi Hi9 Pro that tells it's a gamer tablet. This button has a beautiful red color, the top of it where it touches is roughened. Interestingly, however, this is not a jerky red button enough to think of a really nice tablet that is a gamer machine. It's a subtle, not too intrusive sign, it's almost smart to use a word at all with a gamer flag.

The large part of the front panel is naturally occupied by the display. Before switching on, we feel that we get very thin coffees here, but that feeling disappears right after installation. The lower and upper edges are exceptionally wide and the sides are considerably thin. However, the display front page rate is not even worse, slightly above the 73 percentage.

The loudspeaker is located behind the back panel at the lower left corner. Connectors such as USB Type-C and normal jack connectors are at the top edge. Here is also the SIM tray that can be clicked in the normal way with a needle. You can place two SIM cards or one SIM card in a memory card. I think the latter will be more common.

Processor

Like all similar articles, we are now beginning to show the central unit. In the Chuwi table, not the most powerful Qualcomm units were packed by the manufacturer, but among the competing MediaTek solutions. Their choice for the world's first mobile, ten-core core unit, MT 6797, more commonly known as Helio X20, fell.

Helio X20 is a modern unit, but it is not even a young piece. The official introduction was 2015 in the second quarter, since then there has been some water on the Danube. Nevertheless, we can safely say that the choice was good, the Helio X20 is exceptionally muscular, with a strong GPU and with virtually every ability to meet today's requirements.

The processor built into the chip thus has ten physical cores, arranged in three groups, more specifically clustered (clustered). In the lower group there are four ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum clock speed of 1,4 GHz. The second group also contains four A53 cores, but they can already reach the 2 GHz clock. The topmost group has two A72 seeds. These cores are newer and stronger than the A53s, and they work on a higher clock, 2,5 GHz.

The three clustered, ten-core configurations are clearly favorable for both performance and consumption. In addition to the average usage, ie browsing, mailing and the like, it is enough to work on the bottom four A53 core, which is low on low clocks. But if we start to play, then the second and third clusters will turn on, and although consumption will increase, the performance will be released for us so that new games can run seamlessly.

GPU, memory, mass storage

Besides the processor, the graphics accelerator is also important. The ARM Mali-T9 MP880 located in the Hi4 Pro is a really combo-based, 4 core with pixel 780 MHz. The two-channel memory controller provides high-speed data traffic, enabling LPDDR3 memory to be serviced. From this memory type, the Chuwi Hi9 Pro has 3 GB, the memory clock is 800 MHz. The built-in storage capacity of the machine is 32 GB, its type is eMMC. Fortunately, the capacity of the storage device can be expanded with a microSD card.

Display

The quality of the display is very important for a tablet that calls itself a gamer. Fortunately, Chuwi's machine is not so desirable in this respect as IPS panels manufactured by Japan's JDI (Japan Display Inc.) are really beautiful colors and brilliant contrast.

The panel on physical dimensions is, in our opinion, the right choice for a gamer tablet. The 10 colt feels a bit like this, the eight are a bit small, so the 8,4 col used in this case was a good choice. The panel with 18,09 x 11,31 centimeters has 16: 10, and its resolution is 2K, 2560 x 1600 pixels.

I think everyone already knows the capabilities of IPS displays, it's not too new that they have very good color fidelity, good black, high contrast ratio and very good viewing angles. The JDI panel supports 24-bit color depth, the number of colors that can be displayed is 16. The display size and resolution result in a pixel density of 777 ppi, which in practice means that we also get a sharp image on this diagonal.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro - hardware test

The usual tests on the tablet were run. PC Mark for the general use survey, 3DMark for testing performance in games, but of course Geekbench and Antutu could not be left out.

Based on the tests, three things will definitely be fixed. The first is that Qualcomm is still the best choice in the processor counting capability. The second is that, although we would have been more pleased with a Snapdragon unit, MediaTek Helio X20 makes it virtually perfect for every job, basically just the extra tests. The third is that even though the CPU might have been stronger, the graphics performance was well supported by the great Mali-T880 GPU, which produces performance over its category.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro - Cameras and Test Pictures

We do not have too much information about cameras built into the machine. Certainly, there is an 8 on the back, while an 5 megapixel sensor works on the front, the former comes from Samsung, while the latter has no idea where it comes from. Now, fortunately, we do not have to rely on the paper format, because here's the tablet in our hands, we can do test photos.

You will also see that you can take pictures with the tablet, but I would definitely not use it on holiday or family reunion, or even without exaggeration, I would not use it anywhere. I do not say the images are unbeatable because I've seen much worse, but it's a fact that the Chuwi Hi9 Pro is not the strength of the cameras. If there is no other solution, it is good, but we should not force it.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro - other capabilities

Although I have written above, it is important to reiterate that we can also put a SIM card in the tablet, so there will be no problem with mobile internet, especially since, unlike many Chinese miracles, it supports the B20 800 MHz LTE band used at home. That is, the speed of mobilnet will not be a problem either!

The Chuwi board can also be used for navigation because it also supports GPS and GLONASS systems. If you're already on the radio, do not forget the wireless connection to 4.0 Bluetooth and the 802.11ac standard, which of course is two-channel, so you can use the 2,4 GHz with the old 5 GHz connections.

The Chuwi Hi9 Pro battery is, of course, not replaceable, or just using a soldering iron. It has a capacity of 5000 mAh, which is not too steep, but it's a weaker mile.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro - Summary

You know about packaging, the look, the hardware, the cameras. You've seen tests on the strength of the hardware, you can see the test photos with the cameras, so it's time to draw the conclusions.

From the tests it became clear that Chuwi Hi9 Pro is not nearly the strongest tablet in the market. Of course, as in every article, I find it important to say that the value of a hardware or any gadget is the most important value for money. That is, a cheap one can not be expected to beat the gold price. Chuwi Hi9 Pro is a relatively inexpensive device, so we have to measure its capabilities accordingly. Before you think I'm trying to defend the canary's honor, I have to report that I'm wrong. The Chuwi Hi9 Pro can not be protected, protected by itself. The Helio X20 with its 10 core and the great GPU is perfectly enough for any game, even though it does not have a FHD but 2K resolution display, so there are quite a lot of pixels to draw.

I like the simple Candy Crush Saga-like games, which makes it hard to load the board. Sometimes I sometimes play the car's "simulators," so the Asphalt 9 and Need For Speed ​​no Limits were the subject of the test. These are great arcade games that can be used to insert long hours. Which of course you may be interested in how it was played with them. I'm not disappointed, both of these programs run smoothly, smoothly, with no LAGs, no LAG, no control, so if you do not want to play games with more hardware than that, then Hi9 Pro will not disappoint.

The quality of assembly is not disappointing either. The machine is sufficiently rigid, though it is noticeable that there is some movement between the metal and the plastic parts of the backing, but I strongly emphasize that it is necessary to twist the plate sufficiently.

In other capabilities, the Chuwi Hi9 Pro I think will not disappoint anyone. I was a little afraid that the metal backing would not be good for wifi capabilities, but fortunately it did not. It is likely that the antenna is in the plastic enclosure.

The images of the cameras were not the best, but let's see, this is one of the least central issues on a tablet. Sometimes shooting a picture just fine is the same as the 5 megapixel front panel for video telephony.

Overall I did not regret having bought Chuwi Hi9 Pro! As I wrote in the Annoying Message, there is a funny price for the machine, and this joke is not at the height of the price, it is much more inexpensive. At present, we have to leave 135 dollars, or approximately $ 38, at the checkout, which makes it absolutely affordable and much cheaper than I would be willing to pay for such a hardware or what they would ask for at home. It was this "funny" price that made me buy one. I did not regret it!
