Bought HTC This time, S3 Graphics, a US graphics chip manufacturer and developer, has been added to the basket.

VIA Technologies acquired the graphics division of S3 after its acquisition in 2001 with the goal of accelerating the integration of graphics processors. The S3 was jointly owned by VIA and WTI Investment International in 2005, to this day, when Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC bought the S300 Graphics patents for $ 3 million.

VIA vice president Tzu-mu Lin said the company was forced to take the move due to difficult economic conditions. Of the total, 147 million will go to VIA and 153 million to WTI. The transaction has also been approved by the board of directors of VIA, WTI, and HTC, so it is expected to close before the end of the year.
