NVIDIA’s plans for next year are 40nm and DX11

Referring to unnamed documents, VR-Zone has compiled its table, which sheds light on how NVIDIA envisions next year.

We can hardly tell our regular readers that the 55-nanometer GeForce, the dual-core, built around the GT200b will take place in the first quarter. GTX 295, GTX 280 the successor GTX 285 as well as the third generation GTX 260 premiere. We have already discussed these video cards in the columns of our site several times, so we will now refrain from repeating what was said there.

The first 40-nanometer GPU will debut in the second quarter, and contrary to previous information, this honorable title is not mid-range. GT216 will be a feature of the high-end GT212, which will replace the 55-nanometer GT200b, and this assumes a very short life cycle for the graphics controllers already mentioned above. The third quarter is proving to be the busiest, with the mid-range GT214 and GT216 premiering, the entry level growing with the GT218, and the first 40-nanometer IGP arriving, listed as iGT209 in the table below.

The last quarter also holds a surprise for us, with the GT300, the backbone of high-end video cards, becoming NVIDIA’s first chip to be DirectX 11 compatible.
