The second green cap: GeForce GTX 660
NVIDIA has made the card available to OEMs even earlier, but the commercially available GeForce GTX 660 is already using the chip codenamed GK106, hence promising other specifications.
The rabbit finally jumped out of the hat, and the company threw its GK106 GPU for mid-range solutions into deep water. The chip contains 960 CUDA cores, 80 texturizers and 32 ROPs. To reduce the number of transistors and chip size, the memory bus became 192 bits wide, so flexible control had to be applied as engineers were not satisfied with 1,5 GB of VRAM. Three-quarters of the 2GB of onboard memory is available with full bandwidth and the remaining partition with one-third of the maximum speed. A pin PCI Express power connector is also required to alleviate the card's hunger.

The main specifications are shown in the (zoomable) image above. As you can see, we have two dual-link DVIs, an HDMI and a 1.2 DisplayPort.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 has a suggested retail price of $ 229. According to measurements from foreign computer portals, the savior of the greens is between the Radeon HD 7850 and the HD 7870, but of course the result achieved is greatly influenced by the gaming performance.
