The ASRock PV530 motherboard comes with a VIA processor
ASRock has created the PV530 motherboard for those looking for a possible Atom alternative.
The novelty, which complies with the micro-ATX standard and is based on the chipset of the VIA VX900, can be a suitable basis for a low-performance, low-power computer. As the name of the product suggests, the VIA PV1,8, operating at 530 GHz, acts as the “included” CPU.
You can also pack DDR3 or DDR2 memory; in the former case one socket is available for this, while in the case of the latter two pieces. For those who wouldn't like the integrated Chrome9 graphics - with up to 512 MB of shared memory or Shader Model 2.0 - the PCI-Express x16 interface can give them an escape route, as well as a PCI slot underneath. Mass storage or optical drives have two 3.0 Gbps SATA ports, connected to the network via a 10/100 Atheros AR8132L, while sound generation is provided by the VIA V1705, 5.1 channel audio controller.
The price of the PV530 is not yet known, but it probably won’t be too expensive.
