Coffee table for IT professionals

Old hardware, modern LED lights: the overall effect is stunning. It’s a shame it’s a unique instance - at least in this “configuration”.

The masterpiece is actually made of two tables: the interior holds each computer component, while the outer glass surface provides the function of a traditional desk. Its maker said it used the motherboards and drives of machines in the Intergraph 80 series, manufactured primarily in the late ’90s and early’ 6000s, to create the masterpiece. This is because these products have managed to be quite large in size anno.

The owner studied computer modeling, rendering, and animation on an Intergraph 6880, in addition to an Edge II graphics card, so it’s no wonder he looks at the fossil as a mentor. Since he could no longer use it due to a lack of parts, he decided to use it to create this unusual piece of furniture. Of course, quite a few other pieces of hardware that have accumulated over the years also pay homage to it, such as old modem components.

LED lighting gives “antiques” a modern look: LEDs running along the inside edges of the table turn on automatically when it gets dark.
