The case of ASUS Transformer PAD Infinity and stepchildren
While the display’s capabilities also belong to the interior, it’s still outside, so now we can really focus on what’s hiding under the cover.
Many types of processors and GPUs are built into today’s tables, but no doubt the name NVIDIA Tegra is what perhaps best beats the hearts of experts. And Infinity has a Tegra, plus the latest in the triple series, to be completely accurate, the Tegra 3 T33. It is Cortex-based, capable of managing four cores with a clock speed of 1,6 GHz. The four cores are important not only because they can bring out a lot of performance, but also because they have a beneficial effect on consumption, and thus uptime. NVIDIA Tegra can turn off unused cores, or you can even use only one of the four cores if it has enough power.
By opening the tray, we can also control the operating mode of the device, and of course this also has a big impact on the operating time. You can choose between normal, balanced and power save mode.
What else do we get with the hardware? We get a GeForce chip with four vertex shaders and eight shaders and we also get 1GB of DDR2 memory. The test device also has 64 GB of internal memory, but machines with smaller packages are also available, and a 32 GB copy can be purchased. Expandability, as you read on the previous page, can be done with a microSD card.
A wireless data connection can be a WLAN, which of course supports the n standard, or Bluetooth, which is already a 3.0 standard. There is also a version that supports HSDPA and LTE mobilnet, but what happened to us did not include this option.
