Albatron: mini-ITX card with AMD heart

Albatron KI780G is recommended for HTPCs.

Albatron's designers were daring and envisioned AMD's 780G chipset with an integrated graphics controller as the "soul" of a platform with a footprint of just 17 x 17 cm. According to Albatron's idea, the resulting mini-ITX board will prove its mettle primarily in HTPCs: the Socket AM2+ slot is also "happy to see" four- or three-core Phenoms, the IGP associated with 128 MB of DDR2 VRAM ( ATI Radeon HD 3200) playing HD videos and displaying DirectX 10 effects should not be a problem either. Speaking of graphics, we definitely have to mention the one PCI Express x16 slot (4 lanes) that still managed to squeeze space on the PCB, since those who want more performance can supplement the configuration with a discrete video card.

The Albatron KI780G's SO-DIMM slots can accommodate 1066, 800 or 667 MHz DDR2 memory modules, its integrated network controller is a gigabit, Realtek ALC 885 audio processor with 8 channels. Regarding device management, it is worth mentioning 6 + 4 USB 2.0, 4 SATA-II, 1 eSATA and 1 PATA port, as well as D-Sub, VGA and HDMI connection points.
