There is some unrest surrounding the company’s press room, as Telenor and Vodafone have previously announced that they will pass on all or part of the telecoms tax introduced indefinitely from 2012 July 1 to users. In addition to the approximately HUF 10 billion burden payable under the new Telecommunications Tax Act, the special tax imposed on the telecommunications sector introduced in 2012 will remain in force until the end of 2010, based on which Magyar Telekom is expected to pay a special tax of HUF 2012 billion in 24.
Going back to the current news: the purchased cable business includes TV, Internet and wholesale voice services covering 20 households with a modern cable network in some areas of Western Hungary. It has annual revenues of HUF 800 million, EBITDA (earnings before interest and taxes) of HUF 650 million, as well as 275 cable TVs, 11 broadband Internet and 400 voice subscribers.
