According to the official announcement, Qimonda’s 512 Mbit GDDR5 DRAMs will come back from the first ATI Radeon HD 4870s. Thanks to the announcement, it has also become certain that it has been suggested for some time that the most advanced and fastest memory chips will indeed be used in the top models of the next generation of Radeon.
It is not yet known whether AMD will later order GDDR5 chips from other manufacturers - Samsung or Hynix.
