Tape out phase reached the 20 nm Cortex-A15

Tape out phase reached the 20 nm Cortex-A15The 20nm ARM Cortex ™ -A15 MPCore ™ processor marks another milestone in the company’s history and will be built in conjunction with TSMC.

With this chip, you may already have a chance to squeeze in more serious performance notebooks and netbooks, which is a huge opportunity for ARM. By the time the 20nm SoCs are ready for deployment, Windows 8 will also be behind the RISC processor at full chest width.

The now announced production phase, Tape out, means that production models have been completed, leaving the tile on the design table. From here, the road to see actual products made at 20 sqm is still very long, it will probably be another year before us, and the deployment of the actual end products is even further away, sometime in 2013 we should expect this. However, the Cortex-A15-based processors will be available next year, albeit in 28 and 32 nm versions, 32 nm will be the first to appear, they will come from Samsung and will be used by other manufacturers later in the year, but they are already 28 nm. and bandwidth will be used.

The 20nm will once again expand the list of potential markets for deployment, after previous smartphones and tablets, this chip will also appear in laptops, as the increase in performance already provides an opportunity to do so. With such production, the end products can operate up to 2,5 GHz in the presence of four cores. Production will begin at TSMC and will use 20nm with full node technology.
