Intel will retire 10 premium processors

Intel will retire 10 premium processorsThis time, Intel is shortening the Core i7 product line, which stands for high-end chips.

The company in Santa Clara is cutting the selection in small quantities, but we must not forget that the list of new processors is expanding in the meantime, so we will not miss anything, as newer chips are already proving to be a better investment in every way.

The strongest CPU on the discontinued product list is the first six-core chip to hit the desktop processor market, so we say goodbye to the Core i7-980X with a somewhat sore heart. Its successor has been available in the 990X for a long time, and if that weren’t enough, the Sandy Bridge-E tiles will be coming soon. The manufacturer will end the distribution with a hussar cut, as the processor will enter EOL status this month, orders will still be fulfilled, but new ones will no longer be added or manufactured. The Core i7-970 will then receive EOL status, which could take place in December.

The Core i7-875K will be the first to be an open multiplier CPU, postponed by Intel until the first quarter. The following products will be available until the second quarter of 2012: Core i7-960, Core i7-950, Core i7-930, Core i7-880, Core i7-870, Core i7-870S, Core i7-860S. The list also includes a 6-core processor, plus two four-core processors that fit into the LGA 1366 enclosure. Among the other products that fit into the LGA 1156 enclosure, there are two that conquer with more moderate consumption, these are devices with the S suffix.
