WD My Passport Studios after upgrade
The world’s second-largest hard drive maker has released new members of My Passport Studio.
Available from 320GB to 500GB to 640GB, Mac-oriented drives weigh 180 grams and are, of course, compatible with Apple Time Machine backup. In addition to FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 ports, we get 256-bit hardware-based encryption for our money.
The HDD is also labeled with an e-tag showing the remaining free space, and with SmartWare software we can customize what else the display shows.
My Passport Studio 2010 hard drives come with a 3-year warranty and are priced from $ 150 to $ 200. We probably don’t have many Mac readers, and they’re not sure they’ll choose that either, although they currently perfectly meet Mac expectations. If it gets into the hands of a customer who uses a PC, it will conjure a mocking smile on your face for the price of both the connectors and the size.
