Recently, we came to the conclusion that customers voted for Intel again after the widespread appearance of Coffee Lake. While the i7-8700K continues to lead in terms of sales, overall the difference is not significant: AMD took 47% of orders, while Intel reached 53% by April.

mind factoryThe launch of the AMD Ryzen 2000 came at the best possible time.

The Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 5 1600 also sold well, but the current flagship, the Ryzen 7 2700X, also proved to be for sale. One in five CPUs purchased was a member of the Pinnacle Ridge generation, although the series only appeared in the middle of last month. The Ryzen 7 2700 and the two six-core models (Ryzen 5 2600X and 2600) are still playing poorly, with fans taking the top model and price / value champions in the first round, respectively. According to our observations, this is a natural phenomenon, Summit Ridge (Ryzen 1000) has also followed this path. It will be worth noting what Ryzen 2000 will be able to do in May - when both generations of Ryzen will run in parallel.

5 out of 4 customers choose from this product family.

In conclusion, although Mindfactory is the largest online retailer, we cannot draw far-reaching conclusions from what we have seen - e.g. corporate customers are under-represented, which also explains why sales of high-end models are so high. Nevertheless, we still get some insight into the evolution of the balance of power, so it’s worth going through the numbers.
