In this article, as we have already seen from the title, we examine foods labeled with the name Kolink. These products are neither special nor expensive. The performance of the stronger pieces is among the mid-range units, but its features only scratch that level, and for the cheaper, weaker pieces, the entry level was clearly the goal.

Of course, in this case, no one should think about the proverbially bad, explosive foods that existed 8-10 years ago, since a lot of time has passed since then, and the needs of customers have changed a lot. Where are the tin boxes with the warming, hissing fan and the extremely short cable whip? Fortunately, these only live in our memories, nowadays the entry level means more.

For Kolink power supplies, for example, a quiet, true plain bearing but 12-centimeter fan is a basic requirement, and while the cable whip as a whole isn’t, the thickest bundle of wires even gets stockings. They also pay attention to aesthetics, as it can’t be tied into a matte black finish, it looks much better than a simple tin box.

Of the four units we visited, we split the most combo, a 600-watt piece, with the type sign KKCHS600S4F12, and the only “extra” being the presence of active PFC.

By opening the power supply, we first examined the fan. As mentioned above, a plain bearing air intake was installed, which was the birthplace of the sonorous plant of Young Lin Tech CO., LTD. The manufacturer also acts as an OEM anyway, and its products are hidden behind several well-known names. With the DFS122512L type integrated in the Kolink power supply, it can also be found among Scythe products, for example. Its maximum speed is 1600 rpm, while it moves 27,92 cubic feet of air with 60,09 dBA of noise. The manufacturer promises 20 hours of operation, so it is suspected that other parts of the power supply will break out first.

Looking at the PCB, we can’t discover much interesting things. The size of the heat sinks appears to be satisfactory. On the inlet side you will find a VENT brand 105 degree conduit, while on the outlet side you will find VH also marked 105 degree green towers speckled with mucus. On the output side you will find the chip EST7610, which is responsible for the overcurrent protection of the 3,3-, 5- and 12-volt branches and the low-current protection of the 3,3- and 5-volt branches.

It can also be seen from the inside that this is not a high-end product. Capacitors and coils all show savings. At the same time, there are no major problems with the arrangement and sizing of the components, the implantation of the conduits, ICs and coils is perfectly fine.

Test

The power supply was tested using a simple method that best shows the voltage stability of each branch. We do not have the opportunity for a long-term test, and it would take months in the wrong case and years in the better case, which we do not want to wait for now.
The effectiveness of the feeds was not studied either. These units clearly came from the 80+ category, moreover, the study of efficacy would show up when compared to other diets, the values ​​alone say nothing.

We have attached a relatively simple configuration to the power supply:

This slightly stronger-than-average configuration is enough to properly load the selected 600-watt power supply during a stress test. As described above, the measurement can only show the reliability of the new power supply at a given moment, this result can be more seriously affected by the “fatigue” of various components such as capacitors in the future.

The measurement was performed with a multimeter. The configuration was open, meaning we did not install the components in a housing. We looked at the different voltages without load and also under load. The machine was loaded with 3DMark11 to make both the processor and VGA work. At base load, it was 3,3 on the 3,29-volt branch, although this value was 5 on the 5,02-volt branch and 12 on the 12,01-volt branch. Under 3DMark, the 3,3-volt branch had a maximum of 3,37 and a minimum of 3,31, although these values ​​were 5-5,21 on the 5,12-volt branch and 12-12,04 on the 12,77-volt branch. they were.

It is also clear from these values ​​that this power supply is certainly not representative of the top category, but it does not even try to show how it is positioned there. Nevertheless, the only more seriously objectionable value is the maximum measured on the 12-volt branch.

One thing is certain from this article, and that is that computing is not just about their top-level gadgets. We tend to forget about this, as manufacturers like to demonstrate the results of successful development work with their high-end products. However, for the majority, life, real life, is not about high-end products, but about units like the six hundred power supply examined in this article. You can lament that, you can lament that you know little, but let’s face it, that’s why we get so much for the price, regardless of brand, and what we get is the point enough.

So Kolink’s units are well-suited to where they’re destined, and that’s mostly the world of entry-level office machines. Maybe six hundred is what we dare to recommend a little higher, to the bottom of the middle class.

What is certain is that anyone who buys a new power plant should not buy these feeds, just as anyone who is trying to tune the top hardware of recent years now a bit to stay up to date on performance.
