A loss-making quarter behind NVIDIA

The decline in the GeForce product line had a decisive impact on the company’s second financial quarter.

As expected, NVIDIA’s second-quarter financial results ended in a loss. The main problem for the Santa Clara company is that the demand for high-performance graphics cards is falling sharply.

Rapidly changing market conditions have posed a serious challenge this quarter and have fundamentally affected earnings, said Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, in a statement.

The GeForce business is significantly underperformed, primarily due to weaknesses in the European and Chinese PC markets, but sales of the Quadro, Tesla and Tegra product lines are showing strength, which could be encouraging for its future. NVIDIA is listening deeply to the rise of its main rival AMD, with more detailed information on the subject here readable. Although NVIDIA’s second-quarter financial results were a net loss of $ 811 million with revenue of $ 141 million, they are already counting on growing revenue for the third quarter. This is based on the fact that GeForce cards a GF106 and the GF108 chips will soon break into the cheaper segment as well.
