Serious manufacturing problems with SiS

Silicon Integrated Systems, which is currently Intel waiting for your orders, do not get enough silicon wafers, so they are forced to increase the price of their SiS10FX and GX chipsets by 15-661 percent due to increased manufacturing costs.

It is quite rare for a company based primarily on lower-end mass-produced products to be forced to raise its prices, but now this seems to be the most sensible step on their part if they want to minimize their losses. In early July, when there was a significant shortage of Intel i845 and i865 series products for the first time, the company with significant extra orders had already increased the price of its aforementioned chipsets, albeit by only $ 0,5 and $ 1, respectively.

The company’s concerns are expected to be resolved in October, when they will finally have extra production capacity. Until then, the SiS661FX and SiS661GX chipsets can deliver only one-third of the demand for them.
