Toshiba is at the forefront of 4K developments with Quad Full HD (4K) TVs

Toshiba has revealed key details from its ‘Quad Full HD (4K)’ TV series.
Toshiba-84-Quad-Full-HD-4K-TV The first Quad Full HD (4K), last year's 55ZL2, is now followed by a series based on the newly developed platform 'CEVO ENGINE 4K'. A 213 cm diagonal model of this was also on display at the IFA 2012 consumer electronics exhibition in Berlin. Compared to a Full HD TV, the picture is made up of four times as many pixels and, combined with 'CEVO ENGINE 4K' technology, creates an amazingly sharp picture with very rich detail.

Toshiba Quad Full HD (4K) TVs deliver a surprisingly vibrant and sharp image, whether viewed up close or far away, especially for devices larger than 127cm. Compared to a Full HD TV of the same size, the recommended minimum viewing distance for the QFHD display is halved. This fantastic quality is not strictly limited to large displays. This development and the increasing number of 4K content on Quad Full HD (4K) televisions will also become more prevalent. Thanks to USB support and CEVO ENGINE, users will also be able to enjoy their own 4K content in super quality down to the smallest detail.

The newly developed CEVO ENGINE 4K gives the essence of Toshiba Quad Full HD (4K) TVs. The platform provides the huge computing power required for continuous and fast image processing, resulting in a clear, accurate and high quality image. An additional benefit of the CEVO ENGINE 4K is that it allows 4K content to be displayed via HDMI and converts Blu-ray movies to 4K resolution through Toshiba’s proprietary 4K Resolution + algorithm, giving images brilliant sharpness and depth.

Another significant benefit of 4K technology is that 3D content now shines in all its splendor. The 4K resolution allows passive 3D to send a Full HD image to both our eyes. This eliminates the biggest disadvantage of stereoscopic passive 3D so far, the limited resolution and image.

The Quad Full HD (4K) series will arrive in Europe in the first half of 2013, with different release dates for each country.
