T-online: 150 GB limit

T-Online Hungary, Károly Juhász, the Communications Authority of the National Communications Authority, and the Hungarian Association of NETÉRT, the Internet Development Foundation and the Linux Users' Association have been negotiating the termination of T-Online's 50 subscribers in recent days, as promised. .

During the negotiations, Károly Juhász confirmed that T-Online's procedure complied with the law and the general terms and conditions, but raised ethical and consumer concerns.
During the negotiations, T-Online stated that it will provide the service to the subscribers affected by the termination on unchanged terms during the notice period, and will allow them to use ADSL service smoothly and without interruption when the service is terminated.
In order to avoid user complaints arising as a result of T-Online Hungary's actions in the future, at the request of the Communications Consumer Rights Representative, T-Online Hungary has undertaken to clarify the procedure that prevents unfavorable decisions for subscribers by amending the General Terms and Conditions (GTC). In order to ensure the safety of consumers, the procedure will include the concept of "extreme" user behavior and its possible consequences.
An agreement was also reached that T-Online Hungary considers a monthly traffic volume of at least 150 Gigabytes as "extreme" user habits, in the case of users who do not currently have a declaration of loyalty. T-Online Hungary reviews this traffic volume annually, taking into account user habits, but the value established as a result of the review cannot be less than the previous year. It is also important to note that, according to T-Online Hungary, more than 99% of the customers of the affected package do not have "extreme" user habits.
In the future, T-Online Hungary will notify those extreme users who no longer have a declaration of loyalty and who regularly exceed the amount of extreme data traffic specified in the GTC. The service provider will offer to its subscribers who do not want to change their user habits either, or will offer another package of their own or of another service provider.
T-Online Hungary will communicate the amendment to the GTC to all its subscribers as described in the legislation and its GTC. In this amendment to the GTC, T-Online Hungary, in consultation with the Representative of Communications Consumer Rights, acts with the maximum consideration of consumer interests.
The negotiators consider it a joint success that a general data traffic limit will not be established in the framework of a "fair use policy", and that, at the suggestion of NETÉRT, the 50 dismissed subscribers can redirect their old t-Online e-mail address to a specified address for one year free of charge address.
Last but not least, the parties agreed to hold regular consultations in order to discuss further details of the case and in the future in order to jointly analyze user habits and service provider behavior.
It is now official: The "limit" is 150 GB, and above that it is recommended to change service providers. For some time now, it has been possible to switch to another internet service provider without a 30-60 day gap, without problems or interruptions, so for those who have remained with the current company due to the internet-free period, it is probably time to review the market again.
