January was a success for NVIDIA and its partners

The new cards have worked.

According to some NVIDIA partners, sales jumped dramatically in January, with the first month of the year showing much better figures than the months of the last quarter of last year. Even the absolute high-end Geforce GTX 295 often gets off the shelf, in addition to the GTX 260 and GTX 285 running very well. Of course, the partners are pulling in nice sums from selling cheaper Geforce 9800, 9600, especially 9500 GT / GS based cards, and the month of January was no exception.

The Geforce 1 GT and 9600 GT models with 9500GB of memory are popular products, despite the fact that in these categories, double or even quadruple the amount of memory compared to 512MB in these categories does not whit up the whit. The general perception is still that more memory is always better, 1 or 2 GB makes life more beautiful than a sufficient amount (or the farmer still doesn’t wear sunglasses).

Still successful: peasant blindness

NVIDIA will slowly regain the lost confidence, and the transition to 40 nm will be crucial for both manufacturers.
