AMD has cut some CPU prices by 25 percent

Digitimes reported that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced a major price cut yesterday.

The price cut will affect desktop processors, so the price of Semprons and AMD 64s has also dropped. At the same time, the manufacturer announced that production of Sempron processors with Socket-A enclosures will be completely discontinued by the end of the third quarter.

The price cut is greatest on Sempron processors, where it reaches 25 percent, but the price of X2 and traditional AMD 64 CPUs has also dropped significantly. For the former dual-core solutions, this reduction is 8-12 percent, while for single-core solutions it is between 11-22 percent.
Simultaneously with the price cut, they officially announced their new X2 processor, which has been awarded 3800+ marks and is available for $ 354 per thousand.
