PCoIP - magic from Leadtek?

As we wrote in the introduction, the request to try quite special Leadtek tools was a bit surprised, a bit scared us. Until then, it’s okay that we’re not completely illiterate when it comes to computing, but we were faced with such a new thing that we couldn’t even find source material on the net’s home page. PCoIP itself is not a very common concept either, so to learn the basics you had to rummage through the articles of the English WIKI.

Another difficulty was that we only got one client. It soon became apparent that we would not be able to try out a multi-machine system, but so we could not be sure that the operation of the system, the use of VMWare, would work as we think. Finally, we had to ask Leadtes for email help to make our article really accurate and relevant.

After history and correspondence, it became clear that Leadtek’s hardware could be seen as a combination of two modes, two solutions. On the one hand, the control card method is when we can transfer the entire desktop over the network so that not only the computing capacity but also the entire graphics resource is available to us on the other side of the world. In this case, of course, it is also conceivable that the company has a serious data center, where the rack servers are located in a central server room and the clients connect to each server directly using the card. In this way, even if all the staff is doing some serious graphic work, it is enough for only the tiny client to take their place on their desk. On the other hand, here is the solution for us without a control card, when we access virtual machines running on the server with the help of clients. If we want to be accurate, there is also a third way, combining the two. In this case, you can also access virtual machines or use the full graphical arsenal on any of the networked clients.

All in all, we can say that the system works and what we promise we get from it. We tried to highlight the advantages, all the more so because we didn’t think of a disadvantage, so if we wanted to describe them, a short article would have been written. In fact, the Leadtek solution is not designed to take advantage of home networks. At the same time, we have to say that it is not a far-fetched idea to use the card and clients in a home environment, especially if we are not using all the machines to run 3D games. We can do this by assembling a powerful machine as a server, in which we put plenty of storage. We can put this in the attic or down to the basement, and in the rooms there will be only a tiny client on the tables that doesn’t take up space, makes no noise, and certainly consumes less than if we used full-fledged computers. These clients can be used on the desk, in the nursery or even in the living room instead of HTPC, at least if we give up surround sound.

So the point is that in the form of Leadtek VP200H and VP200P, we got to know hardware with a really useful and innovative solution, which we offer with a pure heart, primarily for corporate environments that are now being built or rebuilt, but also for home use.

The hardware is supplied by the domestic distributor, the Computer Emporium wholesale provided by us, thank you!
