Roast Blu-ray Discs on a Macintosh Computer!
With the FastMac's optical drive, we can write not only CDs and DVDs, but also dual-layer Blu-ray discs with a capacity of 50 GB.
The FastMac product can be installed in PowerBook G3, PowerBook G4 Titanium / Aluminum, iBook G4, Mac mini, iMac G5, iMac Intel, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini computers. The $ 499,95 price tag for the optical drive, or about $ 90, makes the product unavailable to average users, though it's not at all surprising with Blu-ray drives.
Write-read speeds have been stated quite succinctly by the manufacturer, so the only thing we can find out on the product's official website is that it roasts dual-layer Blu-ray discs at a single speed and rewritable DVDs at 8x speed. Of course, the drive also handles dual-layer DVDs, DVD-RAM media, and various CDs.
