LG seems to think it will be worthwhile to enter the e-book reader market as well. This is also confirmed by the introduction of a reader equipped with a solar cell. The 0,7-centimeter-thick device weighs only 20 grams. At LG, they realized that a solar panel should be enough to operate the reader, as the e-ink display can hold quite a bit of energy. Its higher consumption is only when changing sheets. At the same time, current displays still seem to be consuming a lot to make a solar-powered device a viable alternative, so the news is expected to improve display efficiency by 12 percent in the coming years.
