Gadgets on TV

Opera is present not only on PCs or phones, but also on other devices such as set-top boxes or even televisions.

Gadgets on TV 1

The Devices SDK is one of Opera's most significant products. It’s a development environment that helps OEMs create percussive, web-based user interfaces and applications. To do this, they have the source code (or part of it) of Opera, which provides the web display engine, as well as a number of tools from the cross-platform Opera UI framework to Dragonfly to various TV and phone emulators that can be used to test the product cheaply.

The Opera SDK is good not only for user interfaces and media sharing, but also for creating web-based programs, better known as gadgets. Going further, we also have the opportunity to share these with others - for free or for money. This is what the existing opera app store, Opera Store, is for. If the manufacturers implement the right module, we can also access it from TV and install various applications (Facebook, games). Using HTML5 and CSS3 significantly pushes the boundaries, as exemplified by the video above.
