LibreOffice 3.4.2 has been released

LibreOffice 3.4.2 has been releasedThe Document Foundation (TDF) has announced the release of LibreOffice 3.4.2.

This is the third release in the 3.4 series that TDF recommends for both individual and institutional users, as the vast majority of major bugs discovered in the 3.4 series have been fixed in this release. LibreOffice 3.4.2 is the result of the joint work of about 300 contributors. That’s more than 23 commits, with about 000 million lines of code added, changed, or deleted.

The development community is diverse and balanced. Oracle and SUSE are responsible for 25-25% of the commitments, a further 25% came from community developers who joined the project after the birth of LibreOffice, and 20% are the result of RedHat’s work. The remaining percentages are shared by pre-TDF community contributors, Canonical developers, and other organizations such as Bobiciel, CodeThink, Lanedo, SIL, and Tata Consultancy Services.

While the TDF is happy to recommend version 3.4.2, supported by the right partner, for mass institutional deployment, it is clear that this release is also just a milestone on the road to even greater stability. Version 3.4.3, which will be released at the end of August, will include additional bug fixes for stability and security.
