MGCOOL Explorer Pro test - a cheap 4 Ks sports camera

Let’s start with the simpler thing, operating the camera. You can turn it on with the button on the front panel. After switching on, you can also use the button on the front panel to select one of the operating modes. The first in the line is the video, the second is the shooting, the third is the Slow-Motion recording (720p - 120 FPS), the fourth is the viewing of the recorded material, while the fifth is also the last in the menu. Let's look at this now!

On the first tab you will find the video settings. Resolution, sound on and off, Time-Lapse, continuous recording on, Slow Motion to the end. Two of these things need a little expansion. Continuous recording should be understood when the memory card is full, you can start recording from the beginning, the recording will not stop. For Slow-Motion recording, you can choose between 720p 120 FPS and 1080p 60 FPS modes. I don't know how much the latter makes sense, we can't get much slowdown with it, or if it does, it's a problem with image quality. We'll try this too!

The second tab is for photography. Here, too, you can adjust the resolution, take time-lapse pictures, and have an extra Drama Shot feature that allows you to take phase photos on the go.

On the third tab we find the exposure function, with which we can lighten our dark images, adjust the white balance, rotate the image, turn on the driving mode, wifi (I will talk about this later), adjust the frequency of the mains power in artificial lighting, there is a car power off, screen saver, and display the time on the completed recording.

On the fourth tab you can set general things like menu language - no Hungarian -, date and time setting, card formatting, factory reset and camera software version display.

Looking at the menu, I already miss one thing, and that is vibration reduction. Because I know how effective this feature can be in a sports camera like this, and also how much it is missing if it is not turned on in advance I cry.

Before I get to the tests, I need to talk about one more thing, and that is the ability of the camera for wifi. If someone buys a sports camera, it seems like a very good thing from the descriptions to be able to view the camera image on the phone, and we can even start and stop the recording. The thing is, it's really good, but that's all, good. It basically doesn’t make much sense, at most, if we want to film or photograph ourselves remotely. There are two problems with this. One is that there is a good big delay between the image of the camera and the image that appears on the phone, the other is that it reduces the operating time of the camera to a fraction of the switched on wifi. So the point is, it’s good to have that feature, but I suspect that after trying it, others will forget it the way I forgot.
