A milestone in the life of the Pentium

The Pentium Gold G5620 (BX80684G5620), which arrives early next month, was born to replace the G5600.

A milestone in the life of the Pentium

Surely under pressure from AMD, Intel has decided to pump the Pentium family clock to new heights, so the G5620, which will be released in a matter of weeks, is sure to run at around 4,0 GHz (without Turbo Boost). The chip, made with 14nm manufacturing technology, will of course continue to be based on the Coffee Lake architecture, with 256 KB of second-level cache, and the L3 will be 4,0MB in size. The chip is dual-core, thanks to HyperThreading technology with four logical threads, and uses the UHD Graphics 630 IGP for graphics tasks - although it is the manufacturer's more powerful solution, it lags far behind the pace provided by the Ryzen 3 2200G. It is commendable that despite the 4 MHz operating frequency, the chip is still in the 000 watt consumption class, but there may be problems with pricing because it is approx. expected where the aforementioned AMD processor is rampant.

Well, in the first weeks of March it will be revealed whether there are still miracles…
