The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M and 570M have been releasedNvidia’s new mobile GeForce aims to conquer the top category.

The California-based company has upgraded its high-end graphics processors for laptops. The new top model is the GeForce GTX 580M, which replaces the GTX 485M. The company says the tessellating performance of “the fastest laptop graphics card ever” is six times greater than the Radeon HD6970M. With the GTX 570M, the promised acceleration is about 20 percent compared to its predecessor (470M).

The innovations are made with 40-nanometer manufacturing technology and support DirectX 11, OpenCL, PhysX, CUDA, 3D Vision, Optimus, SLI and 3DTV Play technologies. Although the power consumption of the GeForce GTX 580M is extremely high, it practically takes advantage of the standard 100-watt frame, but thanks to Optimus technology, high-end notebooks equipped with the 580M can last up to 5 hours. The power consumption of the GeForce GTX 570M is slightly more modest, because it does not exceed 75-80 watts even under heavy load. The 580M first appeared in two Alienware models (M17X and M18X) and the 570M in the MSI GT780R notebook.
